Books for AP euro self-study?

I'm plannning to self-study AP Euro this year, so can anybody recommend me some good books to use? I've heard that Modern European History is really good as a test-prep, and I've used PR for AP world last year, but I don't know much about the other books.

bump..........

yeah.bump1

I've heard "A History of the Modern World" by Palmer is excellent as a textbook.

im currently using Western Civilization by Jackson J. Spielvogel, 5th edition

I am using "History of Western Society" it is a great book for the big topics in Europe but the teacher also told us to use "A History of the Modern World" (Above Post) for the smaller details. I have to say that I like those two as a good combo.

my school uses the Western Heritage by Kagan...does anybody recommend this one?

we're using Palmer as our textbook, and we have nightly reading from Western Civilizations: Renaissance to the Present by Dennis Sherman to supplement. That second one is great, its all primary and secondary source documents, you can really get an idea about the thinking of the time, policies of the monarchs, etc. by reading their writings. we're also reading The Anatomy of Revolution by Crane Brinton, a real book (not a textbook), which is "A comparative history of the English, American, French and Russian revolutions." It's not a bad read.

"Modern European History" by Viault--->excellent. Seriously, you will know it hardcore. I basically highlighted a few bits from it, got 100s on my tests in school, and can answer most of the practice Ap Euro questions based on it, without much review.

Though it looks fat and heavy (its like a double paperback), it has good summaries and timelines so it's not overwhelming

Viault's book is amazing and an easy read. Palmer is soooo boring. Viault is much better.

Use Viault! And I had Kagan's book last year and it was the worst book I've ever read. Just read Viault in lieu of it.

I'd definitely go with Viault, I found it interesting and it does a really good job of explaining facts and summarizing chapters. It prepares you well for the exam.

I third MEH, excellent book!!

MEH got me a 3 and this was my first AP/honors class (took it as a sophomore)

It's good stuff.
