Books on basic engineering?

I'm still taking classes in college to transfer to a university for chemical engineering, but I want to learn a little about what it's like with the free time I have. Can someone recommend a few books for me?

That is way too broad a question. There are literally thousands of topics that encompass all the degrees that fall under the umbrella term that is engineering. There are no “engineering books”. There are only books on the various topics covered in a _________ engineering curriculum. So, that said, what topics are you looking to read up on?

There are no ChemE books I can recommend for the average student that would be of any use without a class to teach you.
You’d really be better off just waiting.
