Should my son order these ahead and if so from where or just wait until the first class meets to see what the professor wants them to get for the books?

A lot of students wait for the first day, just to be sure that the books are required and that they don’t want to drop the class. If you do decide to buy the books ahead of time (or after classes start) I wouldn’t recommend going through the university bookstore unless he needs the book immediately (and even then BookHolders or the Book Exchange off campus may have better prices). Amazon is a great resource, and I’ve heard good things about half.com. Chegg is great if you’d like to rent books instead of purchasing them.

MarylandTerp - thanks again for answering my question and the good info.
