and also..i dont really use amazon until now..but i'm getting some novels that are just 1 cent. can the prices seriously be that low? or is that person trying to fool someone?

whiskers-- you should get the copy they specify. some novels will have a newer introduction, or some commentary. and some older novels may actually have different text (especially if it´s a more famous work). in addition, it makes it a lot easier to follow class discussion and do assignments if you have the same page numbers as the prof.

Anyone taking MUSC130? The ISBN number the store gave me is not anywhere to be found(other than the store it self). Apparantly there's a 4th edition of the book, but the best I've seen is the 3rd.

oh okay, yeah i called the UBC and they gave me the ISBN numbers for all my textbooks and novels. one more question. by using amazon, i can save 100 bux for textbooks/novels. however, how does the shipping and handling fee work? will it be so much that i should just buy the books at UMD because the difference wont be that much?

Shipping is very cheap. It cost me $5.49 an order.

I think I made a mistake though and I'm ****ed. I didn't realize there was a Third Edition of the Longman Anthology of British Lit so I ordered the 2nd one. The 3rd edition came out in February of this year, which would mean they couldn't have used copies, but they have a used price. Also, it is about $10 cheaper than the list price, but the 2nd edition is only 60 cents cheaper than the list price. I really hope I got the right one or I will be upset!

alright that's good..so shipping shouldn't be crazy as to be like 25 bucks right? even tho if the textbooks are like heavy and stuff?..i hear the standard shipping is based on weight.

anywho, what if the professors change their booklist? is that possible, even after they are up?

Coming from a parochial school environment where we had to buy our own books (art history books are $$$$$$$$$$) - I've used Amazon a lot. Their used books are often provided thru links to a variety of used book sellers - and yes - sometimes they are only 1 cent for paperback novels.

But I've learned the hard way to be sure to get the correct ISBN - it sucks when all they've changed is the dedication and a few pics - but its enough to throw off page numbers and you spend as much time triangulating back to the right pages as u do reading!

I emailed the bookstore a few days ago about the ISBN for the MATH113 book and haven't heard back from them - anybody got this one?

@whiskers

Well that's weird. I went and called them today and they told me they couldn't give me any info on any fall books because it was still the summer session. Seems a little fishy because they answered a previous question.....

yeah that is really weird..i talked to 2 ppl and both told me all the books i needed. u called the university book center right?...well, maybe try again later and different people will be there, lol. unless they JUST changed policy which is strange.

Yup definitely called the book center. She said they didn't have them in yet. And I said, okay, but you can't tell me any info on them? And she said no. I think she is just lazy and didn't want to. I am going to send another email before I call again.

I emailed the UBC on Saturday and got a response today. They had books for a couple of my courses, but not others.

Bad News: I got the wrong book.

Good News: Amazon agreed to file a claim on my behalf because the seller hasn't responded to 3 emails requesting a refund. I may get all my money back, including shipping, plus a $5 promo gift certificate, and if he doesn't respond at all, I'm not shipping them back because I don't have the address. This may work out wonderful!
