I need some good books to read. Nothing to bore me, just some fun reading.
Any ideas?

His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman (the Golden Compass movie is coming out this December)
Harry Potter, it's always a good reread
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood (although that might end up a frustrating read, but it's sooooo good)

Well it depends if you're a girl or guy, and erring on the side of being a little younger, but I'll try to give you the best I know:

Girl: Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Uglies/Pretties/Specials, Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks

Boy: Chuck Palahniuk-especially Fight Club

^^^I agree with the "girl" reccomendations. Also, if you're a girl and want some easy beach reading that'll make you laugh, try The A-List, Bergdorf Blondes, and The Devil Wears Prada/Everyone Worth Knowing (same author).

Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer was a rather light, humorous read, very quick too. It was also sad though. Plus you won't feel you've lost brain cells by reading it (maybe I'm the only one who has that problem).

I like dumb detective fiction too, especially the Kellermans. I love Faye Kellerman. And by that, I mean I love Jacob Lazarus.

I second Harry Potter and if you like those books try Eragon and the Eldest.

I second most of what's been said-- I LOVE LOVE LOVE the His Dark Materials series (Golden Compass, the first, is my least fave, but you have to get through it to understand the other two) and Handmaid's Tale.
Read either of Jonathan Safran Foer's books (Everything is Illuminated, or Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close- this one is absolutely incredible.)
-the Perks of Being a Wallflower, required reading for any high school kid

Nancy Drew. The old ones are classics worth rereading. The new ones are guilty pleasures worth rereading.

Brave New World. Handmaid's Tale. I Know This Much is True. Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell.

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden...it was an awesome book!

HP!

10char

definately: Harry Potter, The Catcher in the Rye, and GOSSIP GIRLS (i dont even know why i like that book)

The Devil Wears Prada is hilarious. I met Laura Weisenberger's creative writing teacher a few summers ago -- such a nice woman.

Aside from that, my list:

This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

It's just beautiful writing, where everything flows smoothly and you take notice of how all the words fit together. Although I may not agree with the actual story, Fitzgerald does wind up striking a chord with me with words, and I can appreciate that.

Ender's Game & series by Orson Scott Card.

Brilliant and captivating story. He is so honest about it, too.

Violin by Anne Rice.

The only Anne Rice novel I've even remotely liked, in this story, I think she actually redeems herself for all that Gothic crap she's written. Maybe I just end up loving anything that remotely talks about individualism -- I'm not quite sure. Again, her words have a melodic quality to it, and the haunting does not go too far.

Artemis Fowl & series by Eoin Colfer.

Cocky aristocratic genius and de-mythologized faeries? What's not to love?

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien.

The depth he can write into characters...it's a chapter of history of another world. He has a way of making it sound so real.

The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged, and We the Living by Ayn Rand.

I don't think I need to explain them. =]

if you're looking for lighter reading david sedaris can be good.

Light reading = Terry Prachett and Dave Barry.

Hilarious.

Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson... not really light reading (pretty depressing actually, although it has a lot of "dark humor"), but it's an essential book if you're a college-bound senior... it really puts things in perspective

^ I read that. It had a pretty cover.

And yeah.

additionally...
anything by Francesca Lia Block (off the top of my head: Weetzie Bat, Witch Baby, Missing Angel Juan, Ecstasia) if you're into kind of out-there, modernish or slightly dark fairytales
Time Traveler's Wife
Secret Life of Bees or The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd
