I've heard from a lady at the bookstore through a phone call that you can get a full refund of a purchased textbook when the term starts as long as the day you go in to get a full refund isn't more than a week of when the term starts. Is this true?

Here is the official policy, which is 48 hours from purchase. In practice they may be more flexible.

^Thank you, sigh I live in Idaho and she sent me back an email saying that I could return it when I got to Berkeley but thanks for giving me a link to the official policy, I really appreciate it. I think along with my receipt I’ll bring a copy of her email just in case I run into issues. Thanks rider!

the email is like a winning lottery ticket - it will trump any problems.

As I said, what they do in real life is different from the policy but if things get bad, the policy is all you can guarantee unless you have something else in writing.
