Bootcamp Question For Mac Users

So my mom just bought me a MacBook Pro and I love it! But I also really like playing Nancy Drew games. lol

Anyway I am considering running bootcamp on my mac so that I will be able to play it but I've heard that sometimes running bootcamp can cause problems, mainly slow the mac down and stuff like that. Does anyone know if this is true? I don't want to mess up my laptop before I even get to school...

People confuse Bootcamp with a Virtual Machine. VMs slow the computer down due to running two Operating Systems at once. Bootcamp just makes a partition, you install Windows, install the drivers (On one of the Mac OS disks), and you have Windows running natively. So, yes, if you want to install Windows w/ Bootcamp, go ahead. It won’t affect anything on the Mac side except storage space

Exactly. Applications like Parallels, VMware, and Virtual Box (Which is free btw) all allow the user to install and run a second operating system, usually windows, while Mac OS X is running. Boot camp pretty much splits the computer into a Mac side and windows side though you decide yourself how much space to give windows on your hard drive. Boot camp installs usually run well and i’ve never had any real trouble with them. Its a big selling point for macs because it allows buyers to dip their feet in the water of the Mac OS while still maintaining a connection with windows if they ever need it. Most people use it for games or the occasional program that will only work on windows. For your ND games, it should be just fine. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Ok cool, thanks guys! :)
