bored midshipman candidate

Awesome! I'm sooooo excited! Navygrl, did you get my email?

I used one of the sweatsuits they gave us for all the dirty stuff. I saved one so that it'd be clean and I could sleep in it. You are going to FREEZE in January!

usna_reject, will I feel out of place at the pep-rally? Being a drag, I mean?

Well for me, in a way I felt like that just because I wasn't a midshipmen or a parent like most of the people there. But my plebe and her roommates welcomed me in and I was shouting and cheering along with everyone. Make sure you wear a sweater with big bold NAVY or USNA so you won't seem too civilianish (?) Trust me it is AWESOME! My high school football team sucked so I never went to a game plus our school really didn't have any "school spirit". So all the excitement for a college football game blew me away.

In other news, I'm a little booger myself.
I have a pet betta fish hidden in my personal locker :o

Oh, Happy Birthday Marines.

arrr arrr grunt grunt arrr

Oh, so funny, so funny. :) Hoorah!

Marines4me, I haven't received an e-mail from you lately, maybe about a week ago. :-(
Did you just send me one?

Yah, I sent you one. You know, I think this might have been happening a lot. I've sent you several emails, but never heard back... Hmmm... I'll look into it, and resend the email.

Oh dear.
You've heard me complain before, marines, but this weekend tops it all! We're all gonna get the crap beat out of us :( (more on what happened later)

Headlines
Tony Montana (the betta fish) died Friday afternoon.
Army prep won. Those little brats have a Burger King on base too! growls

Well I won't go into the bloody details on what happened.
23 people on restriction ( two that I know of not allowed to leave base for the rest of the year and shortened leave)
1 girl kicked out on honor offense
The Captain said this time the whole battalion won't be punished.

The good side to this, noone in our platoon got in trouble (or at least got caught) so we have a great shot of becoming the next color platoon. No quarterdeck watch for a whole trimester!

Competition is harsh.

I need to ask, what did they all do? I can't see 23 kids getting restriction and one getting kicked out without doing something serious.

She has the most wonderful personality. She was in my math class and has the same name as me. She was also a squad leader in another company.
Basically she lied to the Captian, the Commanding Officer of the prep school. Lying is the highest honor offense and as a result she got kicked out.
The lesson, always tell the truth and if you do not rate overnight liberty be in your racks by midnight.

~Naps gossip~
The batallion is going to the Army/Navy game in 2 weeks. I heard today that Prez Bush will be attending. Also Sen. John McCain will be there. His son is putting a special request chit (form) to sit by them instead of with the batallion. what if the CO says no?...heh

Sadness, we are not color company or platoon. We'll find out who is on Tuesday but our company officer already gave us the bomb. He told us to keep working hard just for the sake of getting the job done. It really is unfair but life goes on.

Well I'm staying here at Newport for Thanksgiving. I got no money to go home. I don't mind staying in Nimitz hall for those days, I'll finally get some privacy around here.

~Emily~
gobble gobble

hi I am a midshipman at the academy. come see me my room is 50912. oh yeah my name is 2nd class midshipman harris.

ignore him, he's in my platoon :p

What specifically is indoc (spewage)? I applied to the CGA and they have it there too, but I don't know what it really is. Also, what is a quarterdeck?
Thanks!

EDIT: I deleted my post cause i didn't realize this thread is over a year old. Next time just make a new thread for pete sake instead of piggy backing on one this old.

They just recently allowed us to wear civilian clothes on the weekends and I wore a knee length skirt today with a turtleneck. The males have to wear collared polo or button down shirts (tucked in) with no sneakers.

Zaphod rolls his eyes....

Yeah. That's certainly relevant. :/

My, how things have changed. They treated us like adults when we were there. I guess the BS mentality from USNA made its way north. How sad.

Indoc is a lot of knowledge, some trivial, some important that you will have to memorize. Come over to the CGA board and I'll share some more info with you. Good luck!

I'll be attending NAPS in a week and I'm really nervous especially about the INDOC period....I was wondering if you had any advice? Better yet, maybe you could tell me what to expect during those first 3 weeks, spare no details!

Andrea, the last post was three years ago. I would advise to start a new thread..
