Boston College 2012 Transfer Thread

I only went to Miami for the scholarship and honors program and haven’t found it to be the right fit for me. Some people really like it though.

I heard as well that decisions will be released the week of the 22nd. The admissions woman on the phone confirmed this and told me all decisions have already been made.

@hross99 Understandable. I’ve visited UM several times and loved it. I’m sure I’d be happy there, but I didn’t get much financial aid and I’m not sure the money would be worth it.

Also when did the woman from admissions tell you that all decisions have already been made? I jet sent them some extra information not long ago and now I’m wondering if it was a wasted effort.

I called today too and she also told me that decisions have already been made and that they will be sent next week. She said all decisions will be e-mailed, which is a relief. I hate having to wait on the mail to arrive.

Anyone have any idea why BC is so late with these decisions, relative to other schools? It just doesn’t seem to make much sense when so many schools have a transfer reply date for May 1 or 15. At this point I’m just curious about this; I’ll be attending William and Mary in the fall.

Good luck to all those who are hoping to get into BC though! :)

@YoungHistorian I wonder the same thing. I really don’t know. Maybe their semesters end later? But even then, I don’t see why they couldn’t send decisions earlier. What i don’t understand, though, is that all decisions have been made, yet still they are not sending them out. What are they waiting for?! I’m just so impatient at this point.

Hey does anyone of you know the average GPA for BC transfer? I have a 3.82 with 45 credits, not sure if i have a decent shot or no. Please enlighten me.

“The transfer admission process at Boston College is highly selective. A minimum college GPA of a 3.0 is required to submit a transfer application. Increased competition in recent cycles has resulted in a mean grade point average of 3.6 among admitted students. Students most successful in our process also have strong high school records and standardized test scores.”

^^ Straight from the Boston College website.

My college GPA is a little lower, but my high school record is strong and I have compelling reasons for wanting to transfer. hopefully this will be enough, but I’m not holding my breath.

A 3.8 is good enough to transfer to most any college (that accepts transfers). But the numbers just open the discussion. Your ‘Why Transfer’ essay is what closes the deal. Good luck.

My high school grades are crap, and my essay is probably decent at best. Anyways thanks for the feedback guys, appreciate it. And good luck to the both of you.

Yeah ipod I think you’ll be fine. Regardless you have some pretty great options! Is BC your first choice? What’s your major?

Thanks miami4rmjax. I am a political science major and yes BC is somewhat my first choice. How about you

BC is my first choice too. Human development and applied psychology major.

Well guys, I got the e-mail today and alas, I was wait-listed. Sigh
Prospects of begin accepted off the wait list are slim so it looks like I’ll be going to Northeastern in the Fall! The e-mail time was 3:51 pm

Re…wait for it jected! Guess i should go trade in my bottle of champagne for a bottle of jack now. Good luck miami4rmjax. All is not lost.

Btw email time was 3:53 for me.

Aw man, I’m sorry iPod. I thought you were a shoe-in! Anyway, thanks for the good luck wishes. And I wish you good luck at wherever you end up! There’s still a very, vey high chance, that we both may end up at northeastern (provided you choose NEU over BU, of course). I hear the wait list for BC is ridiculous. I won’t hold my breath.

I just got my email today at 3:49 and went completely crazy. I was not expecting to be accepted at all.

Congratulations! Could you post you stats for future BC transfers who may want to reference this thread? High school gpa, sat/act, college gap, major, ECs, etc.

Oh, and are you going to attend? :)

I still haven’t heard from Georgetown or GW so I am not sure yet. And I can’t see my financial aid offer yet and thats a big decision maker.

I am a junior transfer from Ocean County College. I sent my application in the fall so my transcript only had my first years grades on it and it was a 4.0. High school was also a 4.0 with many extra curriculars. College I only had few- PTK, ABG and some others. SAT is what I am most proud of because I am proof that you really don’t have to have amazing test scores to be accepted. Reading-530 Math-670 and Writing-500.

And I was accepted to Carroll School of Management for marketing. My letter also said there was over 2000 transfer applicants and I was one of 75 accepted.

WOW that is great csuozzo23! You deserve it! And best of luck to you with Georgetown and GW.
