BC Admissions
OK. It’s official! Good luck everyone!
Any guesses on the time? 5PM or 6PM most likely?
Last year it was 6. Only 7 hours away
6:00 Eastern?
Yes. 6 eastern
Good luck to everyone. My daughter is currently a Junior at BC. I remember the angst and pain of waiting.
If accepted the decision will also tell us if it’s 3 or 4 years of housing and if there is any aid, correct?
According to last year’s thread the acceptance letter tells you how many years of housing (3 or 4), but the financial aid is not included in the acceptance. Not sure when that’s available but I would hope quickly.
How do they determine who gets 3 vs 4 years of housing? Is it random?
From the BC website re: Housing…
The majority of Boston College students receive three years of guaranteed housing. Sophomore transfer students receive one year of guaranteed housing, while nursing students, Presidential Scholars, and certain student-athletes receive four years of guaranteed housing.
I have a daughter who applied 2 years ago regular decision and was accepted. She was a strong candidate but just a regular student (not an athlete, nursing, Presidential scholar, etc.) and she was given 4 years of housing. I think the majority of students get 3 years, but they do give some students 4 years as a perk.
My son is a current senior at BC in CSOM. He was given 4 years on campus housing and we never figured out what determines that. I will say many students he knows had no issues with getting off campus for junior year.
Same: D21 applied and was accepted RD and got 4 yrs of housing. Her stats were well above average for BC (it was a TO year but she applied w scores) and they noted the 4 yrs was based on the strength of application. She was arts&sciences, not nursing. Based on other folks and what BC itself said, it is somewhat on merit/strength of app. She did not get finalist for Gabelli or other merit$. Great school! Good luck to everyone.
Consistent with what others have said here, we were told directly by admissions during our info session at BC this summer that the award of four years of housing is given to the strongest accepted applicants. However, our tour guide, who had been given three years of housing, said is was no big deal at all to be off campus for a year - there are lots of good options nearby, and people tend to enjoy the junior year off-campus before coming back to live on-campus their senior year.
Lots of people do study abroad during junior year too, so I think it all works out.
Good luck everyone!! I just jumped on here to see how y’all were doing - my daughter applied ED last year and we found out on the 2nd so I thought maybe everyone had found out already. She is loving her first semester at BC! And yes, the letter will tell you the 3yrs vs 4 yrs housing (she got 4), but it will not give you any financial aid info…not sure when that comes. Only a few more hours now!!
“Patiently” waiting!!!
Will they notify merit awards tonight?
