Boston College Early decision help!

BC is one of my top choices and I plan on applying to the school of management but I was wondering if it would be advantageous to apply early action or not. My overall weighted gpa is 3.85 and unweighted 3.53 but only due to a weak start at high school. My junior year i got a 4.5 weighted , a 3.9 unweighted, and a 2200 superscore SAT (2170 best in one sitting) and I am a ap scholar with Honors and part of the California scholarship federation. I also have done Varsity tennis since freshman year and plan on being captain next year and participated in an anti-bullying program at my school, as well as working year round and interning at an engineering company over the summer. Would I be a good candidate to apply early action to the school of management?!

Unless you’re deciding whether to be applying to an early decision school (BC is rEA and prohibits simultaneous application to ED schools), you should definitely apply early if you can. I was recently accepted CSOM (check my past posts for stats if you’re curious) and think that you have a decent shot of getting in (especially if you apply early). Hope this helped

Thanks so much! Yes im definetly not applyig anywhere early decision due to the restrictive EA at both BC amd Notre Dame. I was mostly just curious if it would be advantageous to apply early versus providing another semester of solid grades from my senior year.

If you’ve mostly been able to prove in the latter half of high school that you’re capable of handling the coursework, your chances shouldn’t be any different whether you were to hold off in applying or not. If they really wanted to see if you could continuously hold strong grades particularly in your senior year (assuming you applied early), they would defer your application and evaluate your mid-year grades as they come. Also, EA, if I’m correct, has a slightly higher acceptance rate because they acknowledge this can be tied to greater intent to attend the school and therefore have a higher yield. So, ultimately, apply early. You can’t go wrong.

EA has a higher rate because it’s a more qualified applicant pool. BC is not binding so applying early really shows no sign of intent. It’s mainly higher because the stronger students are more likely to apply early because they are confident in their scores and are also attempting to test what tier of schools they should be applying to. Honestly though, just do what seems best for you. I ended up applying early just because I didn’t want to have to wait until April to find out.
