Boston College or CMU?

I'm currently a freshman in CAS at NYU but I'm kind of unhappy here. It's too big and despite being outgoing, I feel like I'd make better connections at another school in a community setting. I'm also very career-oriented though, and I know the city is undoubtedly the best for internships and opportunities. I want to be an entrepreneur and study Marketing so I'm planning on applying to Stern. However, I want to apply to other undergrad b-schools just to have more options (and be happier :P). If CMU was closer, I definitely wouldn't be as hesitant, but location for me is a huge factor. My mom tells me stories of friends who graduated from good schools such as CMU and UChicago but cant come back to NYC because the only jobs they can get are in boston, dc, and california. CMU has a slight edge in my book, because their student body seems to be smarter and I want to be surrounded by motivated students. From what I've read, BC's tend to be more average which confuses me because they are so much harder to get into. Size wise, they both seem great, there's a community and you run into people over again which is what I am looking for.

The only thing that is holding me back is my horrible first semester GPA. It's most likely going to end up being a 3.2. My HS stats were top 10%, 3.7 unweighted GPA, and 1990 SATs with passionate extracurrics (10 years violin: all-state 2 yrs, 1st place nat. orchestra comp. etc, hired photographer for magazine/makeup companies/newspapers, historian of student govt/leo club all yrs, editor/photographer of school newspaper, varsity tennis, volunteering for assemblyman/hospital, etc). I want to transfer but I don't even know if I can now! And I really don't want to wait another semester and waste a year to transfer because adjusting will just get harder and harder. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Feel free to p.m. me
