Boston College School of Nursing versus Georgetown School of Nursing

Accepted into both great schools for nursing…tough decision… any comments ?

Depends what location you prefer: suburban/urban and size of the major- Georgetown is less than 30 for the entering class whereas BC is close to 100…also, is the aid the same?

I’d consider the convenience of the local hospitals: Georgetown has its own med center, whereas BC students rotate across town.

Yes…Georgetown does have its own hosp but from what they told us they don’t use that hosp for all 4 yrs. They do go to hosp in Virginia, Maryland and DC as well. Thanks for the above.

Dear ARENMSN : Both choices will result in great success for you. In addition to the hospital considerations raised by others and the obvious question of financial aid, please be sure to consider the housing question.

At Boston College, many in the CSON receive a full four years of on-campus housing; Georgetown at one point was only two years of guaranteed housing (which might have changed). Coordinating your housing in your upper undergraduate years might be an issue.

However, ultimately, either school will open nursing opportunities for you from the Northeast through the Midatlantic. You are pursuing a very noble - and difficult - profession and you should have our collective gratitude. Good luck with your undergraduate pursuits!

Dear scottj, Thanks for your input. Yes, you are correct about housing BC guarantees 4 years of housing for nursing students and Georgetown now it is 3 years. Both schools seem very good with high passing rates of NCLEX.
