I disagree. It’s less than a mile to the Central Square T stop (Red Line). For that matter, it is also less than a mile’s walk to BU, and the Green Line.

It’s slightly less convenient to Northeastern, but still not too bad.

^^ thank you all…we have been to Boston numerous times for both business and pleasure so location is all relative; the Marriotts are free for us…with points…we booked the Copley for it’s convenience but will look into the Courtyard as mentioned…

Dear Rodney,
I’ve lived in Mass all my life, worked in Boston 20 years, and lived in Cambridge for 6 of those years. Boston is a fun city. Sometimes my husband and I get hotels just for the night, so we can enjoy all of the great things you can do. NU and BU both have parking for visitors, so you don’t have to necessarily take the train to get the feel of Town. I’m not a huge fan of the train, actually, though the Red Line from Cambridge is pretty nice, and you can hook up with the Green Line at Park Street. Both schools are a fairly easy drive to get to whether you stay in Boston, or Cambridge, though NEU can be a little tricky. Follow directions on the school’s websites. We had to, even though we knew Boston pretty well.
Copley is kind of neat actually and so convenient, Back Bay Hilton, too. Marriott Long Wharf is nice, especially in the summertime, when you can sit out and dine on the upper deck. [*a lobster roll to die for] Being near the Harbor, no matter the time of year is fun. Faneuil Hall is a must for the history, dining, and just people watching. If you have time, you might look into a Boston City Pass. We’ve bought them before:

Good luck…
ps: Ridiculous comments by Gourmetmom about the BU Killer, etc. Also known as the “Craigslist Killer”, accused killer, Philip Markoff was a BU Medical student who allegedly stalked women via online and used a variety of hotels for his hook-ups, including The Westin, Marriott, and Holiday Inn Express. And I agree with you, the in-town hotels are pricey. Check out Tripadvisor for additional information on rates and reviews. Boston has snobby hotels for sure, but you don’t have to waste your money to enjoy nice accommodations
pps: love Marriotts, too, but have fallen in love with Hilton’s Homewood Suites over the past two years of our college touring, etc.

CapeCodLady and many others on this thread clearly like the Marriott Copley. I stayed there recently, and I didn’t like it for the reasons I expressed.

Checking Tripadvisor, my favorite go-to for travel information, many of the critical comments about the Marriott Copley were similar to my observations, so I don’t think my comments were “ridiculous.” Additionally, I would want to know if a murder occurred at a hotel I was considering. According to other posters, “that sort of thing” goes on at lots of hotels, so no biggie, I guess for some.

CapeCodLady: by the way, what exactly is a “snobby hotel?”

thanks Gourmetmom; I have stayed in hotels elsewhere where murders have occured…not really a big deal for us…and given that it’s free for us, it’ll be fine…

On another note Rodney, my son is graduating from NEU this year. (Yeah!) If you have any questions after your visit feel free to PM me.

Rodney, I’d be happy to give you info via PM also.

thanks ebee and thumper: i have a feeling that NEU will be a huge reach for my daughter, but she really wants to see the two schools…

Rodney - As long as you don’t plan do massages in your room in your spare time, I’m sure you’ll be fine! Have an enjoyable and productive trip.
