Boston College versus Tufts University: Where should I go?

I'm trying to decide between Tufts and BC with a few days left before I have to send in money.

Pluses for Tufts:
- Close to home
- Baseball recruit
- $18,000 financial aid (more than BC)
- Solid premed program
- Excellent education
Minuses:
- Close to home (I live in Medford)
- Expensive
- School spirit is weak
- Not known as well as BC (or so it seems)

Pluses for BC:
- Very fun, big school
- Great school spirit
- Multiple high school friends attending BC
- Strong finance/accounting programs
- Farther than Tufts from home
Minuses:
- Less financial aid ($14.4k, 3.6k less than Tufts per year in aid)
- Expensive^^^
- No baseball

Help me out here!!

This is a no-brainer. Go to Tufts. Its a much better school academically, has an excellent premed program, and is giving you more money.

Both are close enough to home so that is not a significant issue. I also wouldn't choose a college based on high school friends as you will make so many new friends and BC is close enough to Tufts to visit them if you want to stay in touch. Both colleges are equally well known. Go by which one feels like you fit. Both colleges will offer an excellent education. How important is continuing baseball? Div 3 sports are fun and not as stressful and time consuming as Div 1 sports. It is a good way to stay active and involved in a college. Tufts is a great school, I graduated from there many years ago.

the two schools are pretty different. what are you looking into studying? if you want to go into business, BC has the edge hands down. I've never seen/been to Tufts - but I've heard that BC is more of the "classic" college experience...good sports, fun social scene, nationally-recognized academics, suburban gothic campus... I don't know, but I feel like the two schools attract very different student bodies. Where did you feel that you "fit in" the best? Like arizonamom said, both offer an excellent education. Also, if you're worried about money, 3.6K for four years is NOTHING in the long run

go to tufts!!

You need to visit both because I don't know anyone who was really torn afterwards. If you are interested in the premed program, BC has a program where you get admitted to Tufts Med School your sophomore year. But seriously, go see what you think.

definitely go to Tufts, better school all around
