There can’t be any updates on the waitlist now. Period. Accepted students have until May 1 to decide on whether to accept the offer of admission. After that point, Admissions can then get a handle on how deep they want to go into the waitlist. The May 1 date is made clear in the post immediately above yours, litlhoward, date April 3. Read and heed (and good luck).
@DevlinHall208 should one recieve a confirmation email once they accept a spot on the wait list.
@DaveRans After accepting a spot on the waitlist, the next screen is a confirmation. No e-mail follow-up is sent.
Hey everyone! I’m a current freshman at BC, and was waitlisted (obviously got in). It’s a pretty frustrating, stressful process, but it will all work out no matter where you end up, have faith! I heard back on May 15th. Several rounds of acceptances went out last year - as it’s already been said, a lot were taken off the waitlist last year.
As far as advice, this is what I did: I emailed my regional rep as soon as I got my decision that I was waitlisted. I later sent an updated report of my academics, sports, and extracurriculars (with any recent accomplishments or awards) to my rep, and reaffirmed my interested in BC and was clear that I would accept an offer of acceptance. I then got the good news!
I do want to stress what has already been said. Now is the time to mentally and emotionally shut BC out. I unfortunately did the opposite and became obsessed with BC after I was waitlisted, so it’s a blessing I got in or else I would have been absolutely, completely devasted. It’s in your best interest to research and get excited about your other acceptances and options! Because you’re going to college still!! And it’s freaking exciting!!!
Feel free to ask me any questions about being waitlisted or what that might mean for your freshman year!
@maine19 when you updated the admissions rep did they respond to your email?
@litlhoward2468 I sent it mid to late April if I remember correctly!
Hey @maine19! I just wanted to say that you’ve been super helpful. Thanks!
I’ve done basically everything you have. I sent an email (and a copy in the physical mail) right after my waitlist and also sent my 3rd quarter grades.
I have a 93 cumulative average from high school overall and I’ve been getting 98s consistently this year. Just based on your experience, do you think I have a good chance?
I put my deposit in at Fordham and am pretty excited to attend there, even if Boston College is my top school.
Thanks for being so encouraging to all of us. With luck, I’ll see you on campus in the fall.
- Also @litlhoward2468 I sent multiple emails as well and got no response. My guess is that they just don't respond to anyone, but who knows?
I’ll be depositing at Fordham too!
+1 to maine’s post. 'Grats to those heading to Fordham.
Just chiming in to support those on the WL. My D didn’t get off the WL until the end of June, but by the time orientation rolled around no one knew or cared. They were all Eagles.
The four years passed by in a blink. While the WL can be stressful and PIA, BC and the Jesuit education are well worth the wait.
Good luck.
@DevlinHall208 do you guys know if you’re going to go to the waitlist? if so, do you know if you will be using the waitlist for Carroll? thanks!
@litlhoward2468 We will know nothing about the waitlist until after May 2. Because May 1 is a Sunday this year, all students have until the end of the day on Monday to submit deposits.
–Boston College Undergraduate Admission
Hi everyone, when I sent my letter of interest a couple weeks ago, I sent it to the admissions associate for my last name (I found the contact information here: http://www.bc.edu/admission/undergrad/special-notice.html). I’m worried that maybe I should have sent it to someone else? Can anyone let me know? Thank you!!
@EmCollege333 - You should send an e-mail to the admission counselor who signed your letter, not the admissions associate.
@DevlinHall208 Okay, thank you so much! Do you recommend I forward the email, or explain what happened, or both?
Do you think we could hear this week? I know it’s a very small chance, I just want to go to BC so badly I can hardly wait!
Does anyone know the exact number of students that had committed to BC?
@elena2122 no clue but Im curious. The main question though is how many they can take off the waitlist per individual college, not just the total number! I’d love to know that. I will say the admissions office has been amazing in answering my questions!
@actssmart Last year, the earliest they heard back about the waitlist was May 7th. I want to assume that we will hear back next week at the earliest.
@elena2122 True! Well I think maybe we might get luck and hear on Friday because it would be the same time for the admissions committee to meet as they had last year.
@DevlinHall208 any waitlist updates?
