Boston CSOM Honors or McDonough at Georgetown

I’ve been accepted at both schools and I’m considering Accounting, Management, or International Business (which BC doesn’t have)… but maybe Finance if thats were the business path leads.

If I’m paying 50k for college, I’d really prefer the whole experience… not only in college but after, such as job placement. I’m assuming both of these will offer a really challenging academic atmosphere, but if I’m wrong please share!

Any opinions would help!!!
Help please ! =) Thanks.

Students rarely concentrate in general management in CSOM because the business core already offers a broad range of courses covering many aspects of business (one information systems, two operations and strategic management, one human resources, one marketing, two accounting, three economics, one finance, and one capstone general management course). The accounting department is very strong and finance, accounting double concentration is very popular.

Academically, HP has ten honors courses (two thesis courses, also not including Perspectives, which has replaced Western Cult for next year) with the same 35 or so people. You get to know your peers very well. The courses are more challenging counterparts to the non-honors CSOM courses. Professors expect more from honors students. In addition, HP encourages student activity, in HP committees, in BC in general, and especially socially. You meet a lot of people (140 total in the program in all four classes), but you still feel a sense of belonging. The upperclassmen are very friendly and will advise you, especially when you are searching for jobs/internships. I wrote this earlier today:

CSOM Honors is a great achievement. Congratulations. I am sure that the brochure already gave you a good idea about what the program is about, but if there is one thing that I want to stress is that aside from the academic benefits of honors courses, the most significant aspect about HP is the sense of community. BC's alumni network is strong. CSOM's network is stronger. CSOM HP; however, guarantees you an internship and a job. The upperclassmen will really look after you. Unlike in other schools where classes do not interact, you will participate in social events throughout the year with juniors and seniors, who will take a genuine interest in you. This is extremely valuable, because if you're smart enough to do the program, you will do well in college. GPA is not what separates people when they are searching for a job. It's all about recommendations and networking. While it's unlikely that a CSOM HP alumnus can directly get you a job, they can say to recruiters that they know this individual and he/she is not only smart, but is personable. I think this quality of CSOM HP is great. Let me know if you have any questions about the program.

In addition, the BC atmosphere is what I always pictured the college experience to be like. Work hard, play hard applies here. Academically, it's challenging, but more importantly, you will have a great time with great people.

Also, for international business, you can consider an international studies minor. CSOM HP also takes a two week Europe trip after sophomore year. In addition, you are encouraged to study abroad.

CSOM HP will do a lot towards making you filthy rich. Just gonna call a spade a spade here.

go to georgetown, one of the best B schools in the country, known worldwide

^^ Wants to get in off the waitlist.

Haha don't worry man, I want to as well :)

yes i do want to get off of the waitlist, and if I were accepted at both BC and Gtown I would go to BC just because it is my favorite school, but if you want the reputation, IMO Gtown has the better business school.

Is it possible to get into Carroll Honors after freshman year?
