Good chance
Thank you so much!
No not a good chance! I’m sorry but the average ACT is a 29 and your way below the mark. Try applying to CGS and you may have a slightly better chance but even then I doubt it.
Agreed with @hi456378 your ACT is way too low for BU
CGS would be a reach
Agree, BU is an extreme reach with that ACT + a high school transcript that doesn’t have a lot of course rigor. While that’s not really your fault given your school’s limitations, it’s the kind of case where a higher test score might off-set any concerns BU might have. However, in this case such a low ACT + lack of course rigor will likely give BU pause that you are academically prepared to matriculate. Sorry
@proudterrier my rigor includes also taking honors and acceeralted classes throughout my high school career.
My state tests (Regents) overall which is shown in my high school transcript is +90 in almost all of the test subjects I took.
The lack of AP classes does frustrate me because of those limitations.
That will help augment your academic profile to BU, but that ACT is just really worrisome–application red flag. Did you take it more than once? Is there any way to take it again and still submit them to BU? If there is a legitimate possible reason for that score–ESOL, learning disability, are you from a poor area where low scores are common (ie: cultural disadvantage), etc… ideally if that reasoning exists and your counselor could speak to it in their rec maybe it would give you a shot at CGS. It’s just so far below BU’s average that it will make acceptance odds very low. Did you apply to other schools, including and especially test optional schools?
@proudterrier
I have taken the ACT twice, but I do not know the score of my 2nd test yet.
Writing and Reading is what hurts me the most because I came from a household that isn’t proficient in English.
However, my English has greatly improved over the years. There are still some habits I have to break.
My writing tends to be worded awkwardly.
I am looking into Smith College. It is a test optional women’s college.
I am going for an interview pretty soon.
I have no idea what my chances are for Smith, since I am in a new school this year (that offers more APs).
I am doing good in the newer more rigorous school.
