Please give me your thoughts CC!

This school would ultimately be a reach as your weighted GPA is 3.3 and theirs is 3.79. Good luck with your college search, though!

Bump

BU is a reach.

Reach.

Avg ACT for BU freshmen class is a 31. If you can get your ACT up to 29 you may have a shot due to your legacy status

Would I have a better chance of getting in if I applied Early Decision or would it be better for me to wait for my GPA to go up a bit? I am also taking the ACT one more time and expect at least a 30 composite.

Unfortunately my ACT test is on Oct. 25th so it will definitely be too late to change it for the ED Nov. 1 deadline.

Early Decision II has had me thinking quite a bit. How competitive would the pool be after ED I?

If I do ED II, I’ll likely have at least a 30 act composite and my GPA can go up a bit.

Would BU still see ED II applicants as people who have a strong interest to be a part of the university?

If you choose the CGS option BU would be a match.

Thank you for the comment. I should have specified this but I am likely to apply to BU’s College of Engineering; biomedical engineering falls under it.

Yes but if you are denied in ENG then CGS would be a way into BU. Biomedical engineering is a star program at BU and one of the most selective.

Yeah I was just talking to my parents and if CGS would make it easier, it’ll be better. Are students who enroll into CGS allowed to transfer into another college like the the engineering school? If so, when? Are there exceptions? Would it slow me down if I wanted to do biomed? Sorry for all the questions but I’m really opening my mind to the other options as well. Thank you for your help!

You can transfer to ENG after sophomore year. They require a 2.3 GPA to transfer and it is guaranteed.

OK. Is it possible to do the CGS, transfer into ENG, and do a premed track too? I was looking at all the classes and it seems stocked, especially after sophomore year so is it still possible to do all of it on a premed track?

Bump =)

I’d say it would be hard to keep on a pre-med track especially if you were in CGS. In most cases, CGS doesn’t offer courses that cover the courses required by the pre-med track. You will probably have to take all the courses that other students have taken during their freshman year during your junior year. This would add significant amount of time to the years spent in college. Not to mention the expensive tuition of the Boston area universities.

However, I’m not completely sure so check the curriculum out anyways. And always, check with BU.
