Boston University ED - Did I Aim Too High?!

i applied early decision to BU, and i have my heart set on this school.. i visited campus over the summer, and out of the 4 schools i visited, this is my absolute dream school. because i've been waiting and all i can do is wait, i've been stressing myself out thinking i aimed too high and come december 15th, i won't be accepted.
PLEASE chance me, and be completely honest!
thank you!

ACT: 32 composite
SAT: 1930, first and only time i took it
[CR: 640] [M: 630] [W: 660]

SAT II biology: 650
SAT II math level 1: 730

AP US History is the only AP course my school offers, i took it and got a 3 on the exam.
i also took / am taking the highest-level courses available in my school, except for one. instead of Syracuse English, i'm taking regular 12th grade english. one reason was because i couldn't afford to pay for the syracuse english class at the time.

i took pre-calc last year (not for college credit though), and this year i'm taking calculus for college credit (SUNY adirondack), probability & statistics for college credit (SUNY adirondack), and Latin American Studies for college credit (SUNY Plattsburgh).
i am also taking french 4, which was supposed to be for college credit through UAlbany, but they changed their policy as of last month and told us we cannot receive college credit for it anymore, since it's distance learning (i don't know).

ranked 6/98

(all averages are weighted)
9th grade: 95.5
10th grade: 92.8
11th Grade: 92.2
12th grade (1st quarter grade): 94.5

ECs:
class treasurer (11-12)
national honor society, all 3 years (10-12)
national honor society treasurer (11 & 12)
french honor society both eligible years (11 & 12)
foreign language club (9-12)
academic team (11 & 12)
FCCLA (11 & 12)
student senate representative (9-12)
yearbook club (10)
SADD (9, 10, 12)

varsity tennis (9)
varsity track (10 & 11)
varsity cross country (10 & 11)

i was also accepted to the rotary youth leadership program last year.. not sure if anyone knows what it is. but it was an all-expenses paid program through the rotary clubs of upstate NY, in which we met once a month at skidmore college and did various activities and lessons to improve public speaking, improve teamwork skills, and most of all learn how to be a successful leader.

what is worrying me is that none of my extracurriculars are too great. i haven't made a huge "impact" on my community, unlike other people, who have founded clubs in their schools and whatnot. i also haven't "committed" to very many, due to various reasons. my younger brother passed away in january, which affected my involvement in a lot of activities, and my grades for a couple months took a pretty big hit. i tried to make up for that by really stepping up my game senior year, i've heard people say that it's too late by senior year.

if i'm not accepted ED, i'm re-applying RD.. would i have a chance there?
and maybe.. what would my chances be with NYU, Northeastern, U of Rochester, and Stony Brook?

You have a good chance of being admitted ED. If deferred, you would almost cetainly be admitted RD. Your stats are in the mid 50 percentile of accepted students and your ACT score is above the 75th percentile.

Your grades match my sister’s, who got in RD 2 years ago. Even if you are deferred, you have a great shot. Good luck!

thank you!!

i read that people generally have a higher chance in ED than in RD… is that true?

you’re fine bro, I don’t see why you’d get rejected ESPECIALLY if you applied ED. What’s your GPA?

Low match in RD so I think it’s an ED safety.

cumulative unweighted is 93.43 (from 9th grade to 11th)

my school doesn’t grade on the 4.0 scale.

buuump…

u kinda wasted ur ED, u would’ve gotten in if u did EA or RD. u are very competitive for other school and i recommended u not to send ur SAT scores and just the ACT.

BU doesn’t have EA…

i applied ED for 2 reasons:

 1. it’s my #1 school, and i know i have a slightly higher chance getting in ED than RD
 2. i’d rather just apply to the one school (BU) and if i get accepted, i won’t have to apply to anywhere else… meaning if i just applied RD, i would be applying to 4-5 other schools and wasting all that application money… i only want to apply RD if i am not accepted ED.

so from the vibe i’m getting… i should just ditch my SAT scores and use my ACT scores from now on? thank you guys!!

more than 650 views, and 5 replies… come on guys. :/

ERROR IN 1ST POST:
all averages are UNWEIGHTED, not weighted! not sure how i didn’t catch that!

too late to bump…?

What school are you applying to?

Really, there’s no reason for BU to reject you outright in ED…

I am willing to stake my collegeconfidential life on the fact that you’ll get in.

I can feel it, in my bones. I bet you can too.

(And you never waste an ED if you are applying to the school you for-sure want to go to!)

All of the schools you listed are match.

NYU: Low match
NEU: Safety (it’s about as hard as BU to get into NEU)
U Rochester: Low match
Stony Brook: Safety
