depends on if they filled your HS requirment. For example if you took a college history course that also counted for your HS US history course then they wont except it. however if you took like a college basket weaving course and that class didnt replace any of your HS requirments then they still might except it. I’m having the same problem. its a bit of a hassel but its worth it to send it in.
but isn’t the whole point of dual credit that u get both HS and college credit:( this sucks bc my current college accepted it but if i get into BU i’m gonna have to retake those classes… oh well
do you mean by counting towards gpa? bc I took dual enrollment classes too and they went to my gpa, but they didn’t count towards the requirements I had to complete for high school. like I took two English courses but they couldn’t count towards my English requirement for high school. if that’s also the case with you, you’re okay.
I know that if we attend BU, there is a particular set of gen eds that we have to take (BU HUB) and they’re adamant about all BU students taking so dual enrollment for general ed credits may not work in your favor.
I’m starting to get worried regarding one of my transcripts. It’s the last material I need to submit and I ordered it almost a month ago and it still hasn’t been delivered. I’ve called and emailed the school plenty but they refuse to resend it via email. Should I call BU to let them know? I’m just scared since the deadline is right around the corner I could lose my chance at admission.
The best thing you can do is contact them and let them know what’s going on. Maybe in the meantime you can send an unofficial copy?
I was lazy but I’ve submitted it now. How long does it take to get the portal?
took me like 2 days but it might take a bit longer now since it’s so close to the deadline so I’m assuming there’s a large number of submissions at the moment
Just realized that BU requires submission of syllabus’ from all the courses you’ve taken as a transfer student… I deleted my old syllabus’ from my previous classes, and college policy won’t let professors send me the syllabus… Does the syllabus affect admission?
is there no way you can get the syllabus from anywhere else? they should be able to give it to you
It won’t affect your acceptance per se but the school uses the syllabi to determine which courses you’ll get credit for which determines your status, as far first semester sophomore etc…if you’re accepted so that could prove problematic in the end. You could email admissions and ask if they’ll accept course descriptions instead of syllabi if you have a course catalogue at your current school you can use to give a description of the courses you’ve taken.
it’s against college policy… and some professor’s wont even reply
Does anyone know any good places to look for scholarships and grants? I’ve seen BU’s record of its financials for transfer students so I’m planning ahead. I’m just a regular student transfer from a current 4-year school so none of the existing scholarships on their website apply to me.
Im having the same struggle. I would love to go here but I probably cant afford it. outside scholarships are basically impossible to get. I’ve usually use ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ if you want to give it a shot still
just wondering, have they received all your transcripts yet? some of mine are still missing according to the portal
They’ve received all of mine but it took a while. Did you send yours via email or USPS? If you sent them by standard mail they take up to two weeks to arrive and then another two weeks processing time on top. In my case, everything I had emailed delivered quickly but then I had one standard mail transcript take a month to process. Hope I could help!
I sent mine through email via Parchment Wonder what’s taking so long
Parchment travels via USPS so it would take roughly a month to arrive (two weeks to get to the admissions office and another two weeks for them to put it in your portal). Definitely call BU admissions to tell them it’s on the way, that’s what I did and they were super understanding.
I still don’t have my portal yet. I submitted on due date.
have you applied to BU before? because the account is the same, you can try logging in again and it should be updated
