My daughter was accepted (11/16) into College of Communications, TV/Film major as a spring 2018 transfer student. We are waiting to see the financial aid package which was not included in the notification letter through the mail. Is there any reason why they didn’t include it in the first place? We need to wait until the beginning of Dec for the award (if any).
Are you certain that all documents have been submitted?
Yes, all completed.
No, they just generally give their award packages out in the beginning of December. If you check the BU Transfer Spring 2018 forum, no one has received theirs yet.
Just got my financial aid package! With an efc of like $500 and no assets (my mother doesnt own a house), I got $20k for the semester which means $40k per year. It’s not enough for my family so I’m gunna try to apply to northeastern and maybe a few reaches this spring in hopes of getting a little more of an accommodating award package. Best of luck to everyone else though!!
BU is a bit like NYU: they don’t undertake to meet full need and award the most financial aid to those students they rate the highest. If you have significant financial need and are not top rated, you will be loaded up with loans.
@exlibris97
Does that mean the 93% need met BU claims to meet for those under $49k income (don’t remember if that’s the exact cutoff) is mostly loans?
@romns116 What i’ve been told is that the amount of gran aid you receive is related to how highly “rated” your application was. Even among admitted students, there is a pecking order. I’ve known students who had their full need met and had few loans, and others that were loaded up with debt. BU is a lot like NYU in this respect.
