Boston University International Relations Dept + Questions!

Hi! I’m from California and I’ve always wanted to stay in Cali and go to school here, but just recently, I’ve noticed how BU has a great international relations department and program. I’m extremely interested in international relations and communications etc…and I was just wondering if anyone here is majoring in this area and what they think about it!

Also, what does the uni. consider more significant: Grades [weighted or unweighted?], AP classes, SAT scores, or extra curricular activities?

Plus, I was wondering what are the chances of getting in if my GPA is around 4.1, SAT score of about 2000-2100 [old SAT score converts to about 1380], 10 AP classes from Soph-Senior year [4’s on exams], and many many EC activities [Studied French Internationally and AP classes, President of city organization, dance, piano, debate, Mock Trial… etc…]

Thanks for your help!!

My S is from California and is a freshman double hoping to double major in poli sci and IR.

Most importantly, BU considers the rigor of your curriculum in relationship to your high school's offerings. If your school offers 10-12 APs and you've taken only one or two, well, that's not a good sign that you like to challenge yourself. Your stats are comparable to my S and I think you're an excellent candidate for admission. In fact, if you apply ED, you will have priority consideration for a University Scholarship, which is merit based and HALF-TUITION. We're talking $15K here.

I recommend you visit BU if you can and do an overnight, maybe attend a class or two. Wherever you decide to go, make sure it's the right fit for you.

Hey thanks for the info!

By the way, who's "S"? Just wondering lol...

CC shorthand: S is son and D is daughter.
