Boston University Tanglewood Institution vs. Internship opportunities

Hello everyone.

I am currently in a dilemma in choosing which summer program to go. As this is my junior year, I find the upcoming summer very important. Well, here’s the dilemma:

I was recently accepted to BUTI with a $4500 scholarship, so I only have to pay around $2000 for the entire six week program. I have to let them know if I’m going or not with a $750 deposit by March 20.
I also applied to SSTP, HSHSP, Saturday Academy’s ASE (it’s a local internship opportunity program with a $1000 stipend for the entire summer), and Clark Scholars. I doubt I’ll get into Clark Scholars, but if I do, then my mom is pretty much set on sending me to this program. I did an internship last summer as well working on intestinal stem cells at Oregon Health and Science University. I think this might have helped with my summer applications this year.

The thing is, all of the internship results come out in April and I have to let BUTI know by March 20, which is this Friday. So essentially, by saying yes to BUTI, I’m giving up all my internship opportunities this summer. On the other hand, if I reject BUTI, and I get rejection letters from all my internships I applied to, I run a risk of spending my summer pointlessly.

I plan on applying to Brown, Harvard, Stanford, Northwestern and UW (these are my top 5). I’m on the track of going as a pre-med major, hopefully. So I’m asking you guys to help me, What do you think is better? Getting another internship opportunity or doing something that I love (I absolutely love playing in an orchestra, but I’m not very talented to become professional) which could possibly become a topic for my college essays?
