Boston University vs "lower" UCs

Huh? per the CDS, the ave GPA of the incoming freshman is a UC weighted GPA of 3.9 http://www.sariweb.ucdavis.edu/commondataset/cds20092010.pdf

@dunninla, bburson

you’re both wrong, this says 4.0
[UC Davis News & Information :: Admission at UC Davis More Selective for Fall 2009](News)
although i wouldn’t be surprised it would be higher in 2010 since this is a 2009 issue

although i do find it strange your cds says 3.9. almost everywhere else updated to 2010 says davis 4.0.

readtea, I can’t be wrong because it wasn’t my data… it is from the CDS. Whenever CDS differs from a school’s promotional website, guess which I’d trust?

It might be explained by the difference between ENROLLED student ave. gpa, and ADMITTED student GPA.

In any case, it was the 4.2 that caught my eye b/c I knew UCLA and Berkeley were both at about 4.18

^ It’s 4.39 for Berkeley’s Class of 2014.

says for berkeley 3.8. now, either it is wrong, or what the number represents is completely different than what we think it is. regardless, i’m still going to believe davis is 4.0 and berk/la are ~4.2

^ I said for the class of 2014. Meaning, this school year’s freshmen. http://students.berkeley.edu/admissions/freshmen.asp

honestly, i don’t even know anymore.

BC is better and more well-known than any of these schools, but also harder to get into. The UC schools are better than BU. Out of the three UC schools, you should visit if you decide to stay in-state. Biggest diffences between the UC schools would be location/campus, etc.

Boston College is relatively unknown outside the Northeast.

redteabag, my link is the most current and updated. The one in your link was done in May.

“Boston College is relatively unknown outside the Northeast.”

What? I hope you don’t actually believe this.
