Boston University vs. Penn State

My major might be international relations or sociology.
Could you please tell me the pros and cons of these colleges.

PSU is probably cheaper and just as good unless you need to be in Boston.

bumpbumpbump excluding tution

I'm going to have to go with BU. BU is overpriced and not worth it, Penn State is better known overall and is much cheaper. The only downfall is that Penn State is kinda in the middle of nowhere but for academics and cost Penn State is the better choice

It really depends - both are good schools, but they are very different in atmosphere - PSU is a typical big ten school, you have big football games and tons of school spirit, at PSU everything that goes on happens on campus because it's extremely isolated and everybody you see will be from Penn State. BU similar in academic caliber, but a completely different environment - not as much school spirit because there are no big sports programs, and the campus life isn't contained on the campus, it's integrated with Boston (the best and largest "college town" in America).
Penn State could be more of a traditional college experience than BU, but Boston in a great city and it would undoubtedly be just a "fun" as Penn State, minus the football.

My problem with BU is the same as everybody else's though, I don't think it's worth the price tag that could exceed 50k if you don't get much aid.

oh I just looked back at my post and you can erase the first sentence. I definitely would not recommend you to look at BU :)

Which is worth more for the academic? Why not boston?

Penn State is generally ranked higher, and is cheaper. Go there unless you dislike rural campuses, and need to be in a city. In that case, look into Pitt as it's about the same ranked as Boston, is much cheaper, and has a similar city feel.

Pandem hit it right on. Penn State University Park is higher ranked, but if you want a campus that is blended in with a city it is not the right place. State College is the quintessential college town. I would go visit and see how you like PSU.
