Hey guys! I received a guaranteed transfer option for Boston University and I am looking for more information on the university. For fellow prospective students, current students, and former students to please share insight on their experiences with the university above. I’m looking for any info regarding student life/culture, food on campus, nightlife, party life, campus hotspots, professors, dorms, events, frat life, club sports and especially things to do off campus. (Nature or city). Any info is appreciated! Include campus traditions as well!
You have created 5 theads asking essentially the same things about ten schools. From your questions you seem to have done no research about any of these schools at this point.
Most of your questions can be answered by looking at past theads for these schools here on CC.
Hi @TomSrOfBoston, I have done plenty of research. I am not looking for information that barely scratch the surface of a specific college life. I am looking for information from students themselves from these institutions for more in depth information and an insiders opinion. I am looking for information that truly reflect on how a student lives at these universities. Leaving snarky comments on these threads is unnecessary and you know it. If you want to be helpful you can provide a link to these past threads you have mentioned. Thanks!
Hey! I am a former BU student (graduated in 2019) if you have specific questions about campus culture/nightlife I can do my best to respond!
@laurrodes Hi, that would be great! Are there any campus traditions that students do? and what bars and pubs do you think were most popular? Same with clubs? Thanks!
The big campus traditions are the Beanpot and Marathon Monday. Beanpot is a hockey tournament in January played at TD Garden (where the bruins play) vs BU, BC, Northeastern, and Harvard. It’s really fun and a ton of students go. Marathon Monday is the day of the Boston marathon, everyone at BU wakes up at like 5 am and drinks all day. The most popular bar for students by far is Tavern in the Square (usually called TITS) in allston. It’s the Thursday night spot and is always packed with BU kids. Other popular bars for college students in boston are Lansdowne in Fenway, Ned Devines in fanueil hall, and the Harp by TD Garden. Boston isn’t a big club city, definitely more of a bar scene and they are extremely strict on fake IDs so I wouldn’t expect to be going to bars much until you’re 21 or have an identical twin who is 21 and can give you an ID
@laurrodes awesome thanks! How is greek life? are parties any good?
I think they’re very fun! If you’re a girl, you won’t have much of an issue getting in. If you’re a guy, you have to rush if you want to get into a party for sure. i was apart of a sorority and I’m so glad I did it. You also have parties with other nearby colleges (like MIT, Harvard, Northeastern) which is a great way to meet people. I don’t know if there was ever a weekend at BU where I had nothing going on socially.
@laurrodes I was so scared cause people told me it was boring here but now i’m really excited! I’ll definitely rush.
