Trumpetdad…there are continuing renovations to the College of Fine Arts building…some things (like the practice rooms) have been completed and some are still in the either planning or “partially done” stages.

Most concerts are done at the Tsai Performance Center which is across from Warren Towers…near the Student Union. The orchestra also does at least one concert at Symphony Hall each year. There is a concert hall in the CFA building where some concerts are held and recitals are also held. I thought that was undergoing some renovation as well…but I could be mistaken.

The whole of the CFA facade will also be reworked as part of the renovations with the lobby areas also getting some work done on them. It’s going to be fabulous when it is complete.

OK, thanks thumper1. Good feedback. Now I’m kicking myself for not being aware of the Tsai Performance Center prior to driving up there, since we walked by there twice.

Both kids are interested in BU, and they’re just sophomores, so we’ll be back again … maybe to take in a student concert; another advantage of considering a place that’s just a little more than hour away.

Trumpetdad…for your musician…the music admissions folks are terrific. You might want to contact someone there directly to see if they would be willing to take you on a tour of their facilities and talk to your kiddo. My son did this after he was accepted and they created a fabulous FULL day for him beginning at 9 in the morning and ending after 10 in the evening…including sitting in on a studio class on his instrument, having time to talk to the faculty, sitting in on a class, attending an orchestra rehearsal (which had to be fully cleared with the conductor), and attending a brass studio recital (at the invitation of his applied teacher). I’m not sure if they would do this for a potential student…but they were very accommodating for an accepted student. Worth the call. If you went into the BUTI office, you know how nice those folks are.
