Obviously ED2 will be significantly smaller. They enroll 450 students per class. They be already guaranteed acceptance to 200 in ED1. They can’t take another 200 in ED2, that would practically fill the class!
Here is some history, Bowdoin has had quite a few more EDI apps than EDII, at least when they have divulged the numbers:
Class of 2020 EDI - 614, EDII - 256

Class of 2019 EDI - 666, EDII - 287 (can also do the math to get class of 2018 EDI/II applicants)

@fluffypup Bowdoin has been enrolling 500+ per class for the past few years . .
Are you speculating about the release this week or has that really happened in the past? Also - Am I right in assuming that the full financial aid package will with come with it if accepted?
^^^Yes Bowdoin has been enrolling 500+ for a number of years. What can be confusing is when they report 1,800 - 1,850 total students, which is the number of students actually on campus at any point in time. There are roughly 175-200 students studying abroad in a given semester, which gets the total to ~2,000-2,025 students if one adds up each of the annual matriculating classes.
Reporting only the number of students on campus keeps the student:teacher ratio down.
@torasee I’m aware of that but they aren’t enrolling 400 of them just from early decision!
@2019RuralMe, per the helpful articles posted by @Mwfan1921, it appears that Bowdoin’s EDII pool is about 1/3 the number of the EDI pool. EDI acceptances were posted in 2019 (208) and 2020 (256). Not surprisingly, that’s a pretty high yield, likely including many recruited athletes. With total acceptances of 900 to 1,000 and an average-ish matriculation of 505, it looks like the majority of ED acceptances are from EDI.
What are the chances that the EDII decisions come out Saturday? I think that’s when I’d bet they would come out, but it seems abnormal for then to be sent out over the weekend. I’m guessing that is won’t be tomorrow because we haven’t been. Notified yet. Any thoughs? My fingers are crossed!
Update: All ED2 decisions will be released at 10am EST on Saturday, February 2nd. Buckle you’re seatbelts everyone—we’re going in!!

Sure, @asdf400 ! For starters, Williams deferred me ED1. However, Bowdoin was always a VERY close second for me.
