Those are some amazing stats for these two kids admitted above! Maybe one has to really stand out in this round to be accepted. They don’t want to fill too many spaces before considering RD kids.
S19 applied RD. 1540 SAT, NMF, 3.9 uw/4.7 weighted GPA. XC/track runner who has been told he can be on the team if he gets in. Coach seems very interested. Said his stats were stellar. He also was the artistic director for a local TedX like @scwoopz above! He sent an art portfolio with drawings and paintings and has won Scholastic Art Awards. We visited during the summer, he interviewed and loved it. We are so looking forward to getting his Bowdoin decision. I would say it’s definitely one of his top choices in the ridiculous long list of 13 schools he applied to.
@homerdog and @OMPursuit , Bowdoin grabbed our son’s heart and I am so happy for him. He too applied to lots of schools, so he will be rescinding applications from 16 schools. Glad to have this stage of the process behind us. Now to look back on all of the conversations on the parent portal about winter clothing!
Hi @Zeylanite, based on previous years, it appears that Bowdoin accepts 600-700 students during the regular decision process. Overall acceptance numbers I’ve seen range between 900-1,000 students, with about 500 students matriculating. If roughly half of matriculating students come through ED (I & II), then RD acceptance numbers should be in the range of ~700 RD applicants. Wishing you the best during the RD round at Bowdoin and the other schools to which you have applied!
Thank you @openmom2019 ! Well I’m wondering if Bowdoin typically defers a lot of ED applicants. Since I heard many previous year students being waitlisted here.
Hi Zeylanite, It’s really tough to figure these numbers out. For now, your application is in and decisions are out of your hands unless there is any new information that might positively impact the status of your application (e.g., new grades, new test scores, new honors or awards). If you have any new information, I’d suggest sending it. You might also want to send a note to the admissions representative for your area (you can find this on the admissions page) and let them know you are still interested and appreciate them reviewing your application during the RD process.
Hi @YaleMIT2023, I seem to recall reading that interviews are not mandatory but if a prospective student interviews, the interviewer notes are added to the application packet. My son, who was admitted through ED2, really enjoyed his interview at Bowdoin during our campus visit last summer. That said, I can imagine that there are many admitted students who haven’t visited and interviewed, given Bowdoin’s rather remote location. Best of luck to you/your loved one during the admission process!
Hi @memelover123 , it appears from previous years that RD decisions have been released (posted on portal) March 16 (class of 2022) and March 17 (class of 2021). Sending positive wishes to all! We have made plans to attend the admitted students events on April 11-12 (S19 accepted through EDII).
Oh, for those awaiting decisions, S19’s EDII decision was posted on his portal. He received an email 2 days ahead of time, alerting him when decisions would be posted. He received a mail package a few days later that contained next steps info and a discount for the campus store. If you want to buy Bowdoin swag, wait for the coupon!
Last year was Friday March 16th according to thread. Maybe my D will get an email middle of the week. Macalester decisions came out yesterday, exactly like last year. 2nd Sunday in March.
Williams was Friday last year and just announced they will send decisions on Monday so I don’t know if Bowdoin will do the same. If we don’t get an email update or a Twitter/Instragram update tomorrow then I doubt it will be Friday.
