Bowdoin Deferral chances?

Does anyone know how many kids are accepted from deferral? I found some stats that they deferred about 120 students last year but I don’t know how many ended up getting accepted. Does anyone have any ideas?

I don’t think those stats are published anywhere…at least I haven’t seen them. My understanding of deferrals is that you are now part of the regular decision round and would be considered in the same way as anyone else who has applied RD. However – maybe you would have an edge having applied ED, since they can be fairly certain that if they offer you a place RD, you will accept, which boosts their yield. That is just a guess though, I don’t know that to be a fact at all.

@jillpnk thanks for your response. I have thought the same and I actually know a few people who have gotten in after being deferred from Bowdoin. I’m also going to maintain my strong demonstrated interest and make sure they know that I really want to go. However, you could say the opposite --why would they accept a kid that they didn’t accept the first time around?

Welllll I don’t agree with that last sentence. If they really didn’t think there was even a possibility of future acceptance, I don’t think they would have deferred you. I think you are right to continue demonstrating interest. Good luck!

Thanks @jillpnk ! are you Bowdoin/ future Bowdoin student?

I wish! My daughter is applying RD. We visited last month and loved it!

Awesome!! Bowdoin is really an amazing and special place. My father and sibling both graduated and adored every minute. Now working hard on creating the same experience for myself
