I was deffered ED 1 to Bowdoin, accepted ED 2 to Bates. Can someone give me some of the differences, besdies the fact Brunswick is anicer town then Lewiston, and that Bowdoin is closer to the ocean. What are the differences in the types of students, at these schools. Is the admissions process much easier at Bates, vs. Bowdoin?

... if you are in at Bates and have to go, don't compare it to Bowdoin. Just focus on Bates and why you like it.

Well, I don't know if the admissions process at Bates is easier than Bowdoin, but I can give you acceptance rates. Bowdoin's acceptance rate is 24%, and Bates' acceptance rate is roughly 30% more or less. I hope this helps you.

I know of a Maine guy who chose Bates over Bowdoin and Colby... applied ED last year and got in and that was that..... he feels that Bates really values creative kids... he does a lot of writing... and he was a legacy for Colby..

I know of a Maine gal who chose Colby... she spent the nite in a dorm as part of her visit and loved it... applied ED and got in and again, that was that, she is extremely happy... doing a semester abroad actually right now in France...she refused to even get out of the car at a greaat LAC in CT...

My son only applied to Bowdoin... felt it was the best program, liked the campus very much... and I concur that their correspondence with applicants was some of the best received...very personal and complimentary of the applicant's accomplishments.....

It's kind of like Colgate, Hamilton and Skidmore.....very similiar in size, scope and location, also the Claremont colleges.....

sometimes it really is your gut feeling....

Which one has the best bio?

I would say Bowdoin, personally I think it's the strongest of the three, and Bio is one of our largest departments.
