I’m torn between the two. I am considering moving my EDII app to RD. But I love both schools equally. Your views are welcome!

well, i'd say the two differences are weather and prestige. weather is certainly a matter of preference. some love the idea of cold, snowy winters. i went to bowdoin, and i can assure you, i'd rather it have had oxy's weather. but this brings me to the second difference. i don't think i would have gone to oxy because of the perceived difference in the quality of the schools. i was considering pomona, and stanford, but not oxy.

i do know folks from oxy and the education seems very high, but i don't know if i would consider the two schools peers. given that, your decision rests on what's more important to YOU, as it always should. in california, i imagine the oxy name is more prevalent than the bowdoin name, so if you're from california, perhaps the prestige gap makes little difference. i say go where you feel you'd be happiest. that will make the greater difference in your education.

good luck!

Bowdoin and Oxy, like most LACS, aren't well known outside of their geographic areas. More folks from the northeast will be familiar with Bowdoin and more folks from the west will be familiar with Oxy. Perhaps you have some idea where you'd like to live and work after you graduate and that could guide your decision-making. If you are at all ambivalent, switch to RD and give yourself more time to decide.

All I can say is that you're going to have to make the decision pretty fast. Aren't ED 2 decisions coming out very soon?

Sorry but what is Oxy? It's probably very obvious but it's early in the morning right now

Occidental College

Oh haha I was thinking Oxford but then someone said California so that ruled that out. Thanks
