Bowdoin vs. Vassar vs. Wesleyan

Can you help me to compare these awesome schools? I am into environmental science and theater. Bowdoin is great, obviously, but I was surprised that students there were consistently NOT very enthusiastic when I asked them how they liked it. Also it feels a little sporty/preppy to me with not much going on in terms of theater. At Vassar everyone is wildly enthusiastic, which I loved, and artsy, but I am not sure about the environmental science options there. Weselyan has both, but I am NOT into drugs/partying, so I don't know if I would feel comfortable there. Thanks for any help!

You’re right to differentiate Bowdoin from the other two - it’s atmosphere is very different. At Wesleyan, there’s definitely going to be people who are simply studious and aren’t interested in either drugs or partying. Ditto for the opposite at Vassar.

Why does everyone think that come 9pm Thursday every college student lights a bong and then starts chugging handles? Seriously, if you don’t want to party at Wesleyan you’ll still have plenty of social options although you may decide to imbibe (a lot of students come in as stridently anti-drinking but then change their mind when they see that it’s not just the burnouts who party).

Vassar’s ENVS program seems strong only in the areas pertaining to environmental policy and ecology, whereas Bowdoin covers most of the major subfields of the discipline. Wesleyan is also excellent for environmental science with good to great offerings in most areas of undergraduate concentration.
