Which?

Clear enough.

Which?

depends...which do you like better black and white or purple and gold?

I visited both and there isnt really that much of a difference both are excellent small liberal arts schools with similar climate, same distance from Boston. Bowdoin is much closer to the water and has a much sweeter mascot, williams is a little higher in ranking but other than that really which ever colors you like better

I say Williams

Brunswick's a bigger town than Williamstown and on the coast. Bowdoin's a little smaller than Williams. I suspect that Williams is somewhat less diverse because of its myopic obsession with winning the Sears Cup every year. Competing so intensely for the Sears Cup every single year inevitably skews the student body more sharply in the direction of the jocks. And this coming form someone who actually love sports. Bowdoin is sports oriented too but is more focused on traditional team sports (hockey, lacrosse, soccer, women's basketball, etc.) while Williams is obsessed with having the best skiers, rowers, swimmers, runners, etc. In the end, I would favor Bowdoin has a more interesting palce but it's not as though you would suffer if you ended up at Williams.

Have you been to either campus? If not, you should visit both & stay overnight for accepted student day. My daughter graduated from Bowdoin so I admit I am partial to Bowdoin. I have been to Williams, which has a beautiful campus but Williamstown is much smaller than Brunswick & more isolated. Brunswick is right next to Bath & Topsham, with stores & restaurants, 15 - 20 minutes from Freeport & 30 minutes from Portland, which I think is a great city, similar to Boston but smaller. Academically, you won't go wrong with either one. Williams is ranked slightly higher. So it depends on which one is a better fit for you & how isolated you want to be.

Williams is very isolated and Bowdoin is in a much bigger town. Portland is only 25 inutes away which is a good size city. Plese visit accepted student days and see what feels right. Doesn't evryone want to be a polar bear, however?

Polar Bears!

Academically, Williams and Bowdoin are on par with each other. I recommend visiting both schools to see which school is a better fit for you.
