Unfortunately, one of my friend tried to be social at Bowles, but he said that people there tend to not open up. No idea if it’s true or not, but he ended up getting switched to Unit 3 in the 2nd semester. On top of that, he said the conditions (furniture, restroom, etc…) are really horrible.

You’re an engineer, so foothill is a very good option as well.

Could we get some actual answers to OP’s original question, as opposed to trolling him?

My advice if you don’t want to go through the haste of switching now or if it can’t be done, go Greek and join a frat. There are so many different ones, I’m sure you’d find a group of guys you like, so definitely look into it! You could move into your frat house second semester then too.

Or, you know, join a club or organization that interests you. Doesn’t have to be a frat (talk about sausage overload). Or talk to people in your classes.

I’ve known a lot of people over time that didn’t have particularly social dorms/floors and they all met friends elsewhere just fine.

Don’t worry so much. Bowles does kind of suck (it’s old, the bathrooms are pretty rundown and some don’t even have sinks, you have to drunkenly walk up a huge flight of stairs just to get home, there are aggressive deer everywhere), but you’ll find people you click with - whether it be in Bowles or elsewhere.
