so, i've bit the bullet, and i'm taking my room assignment like a man....
and as a man, i'm being forced to take a room, in the all male, all freshman dorm: bowles hall.

however, other than the nice,...hogwartsizan facade, what's bowles hall like? is it social, do they have any chill parties, are people cool with alcohol and ameneties? can you bring people up and so on????

any feed back would be cool... if not, party in my quad on welcome week.

it has to be a mix. Many people are there not cause they have a choice. like me, ugh......i'm still *ed about bowles, what a crappy location

i it's outta the way, but like, my couselor was saying (he went 2 cal) maps are decieving, and u get used 2 distances, plus it's far from telegraph, but it's not as far as foothill. Also quads are pretty tight.

Bowles...yup, it's old, but personally when I saw the place I really liked it. Sure the location is so-so, but the view is damn amazing, can see the whole damn bay from almost any dorm room. Plus it has a strange aura to it considering its history.

The thing that will probably annoy me the most about Bowles is everyone says it's dirty and nasty. That's even worse than the fact that there won't be any girls there. I think the reason why it's so dirty is because no one really cares about it because for the most part everyone there didn't choose to be there. We all got bad lottery picks. And for those gay boys that chose to go to bowles, i doubt they'll try any gay stuff because well there won't be girls there to protect them. I think the people at bowles will be people who wanted the units, which are the most requested ones. The only thing bad is the place is FREAKIN dirty. It's no wonder though, there won't be girls there so naturally it's going to be dirtier. If you go to my school at first there was no soap for us, cause some idiots will dump a bunch in the sink and fill it with bubbles. NOW theres no sink at all because they kept flooding the place.

Let's keep the energy positive, bros. As long as stern has a few pretty girls, we keep our rooms decently clean, and we make the best on things, we should have a good freshman year.

From the smaller size, I'm guessing (with optimism), that we'll be able to form some closer bonds. Lookin forward to meeting you guys.

Some of my friends who lived in Bowles this past year have complained about the quad setup in Bowles. The setup is as follows: you enter the room and there's a double, and then there are two doors on each side of the room that each lead to a single. My friends who were in the central room said they hated it because that effectively gives them no privacy while the people in the off-side singles do.

We're the men of Bowles Association,
Coming here from over all the nation.
Drinking here together one and all,
We lift our voices loud for Bowles Hall!

(Chorus)

Here's to Bowles Association.
Drink it down and then,
Drink a toast to home sweet home,
Of California men. Rah! Rah! Rah!
Fill your glasses to the brim,
And lift them in the air.
And drink a toast to Bowles Association,
And the Golden Bear.

Men of Bowles are gathered here together,
Toasting everything from girls to weather.
But the very greatest toast of all,
Is the one that we now give to Bowles Hall!

Yeah, it's more spacious. I think the rooms will be much more spacious than the unit triples. My main concern about living here is the the place just looks so drab and it's dirty. I would hate to feel dirty in my home. ACK. Yeah, we're all Bowelsman now.

Something ironic i found out... bowles is on Gayley Road. See now that's just cruel. I bet who ever named that place did it on purpose.
