braces in college

so I have braces again and I won't be getting it off until sophomore year :( I'm going to be in college in a few weeks. my teeth are not that crooked; mainly just few minor crowdings and overbite that are not that noticeable.I hate that I can only eat certain types of food. what is it like to have braces in college? do people treat you different? is it a big deal? does it limit your social life?

No one cares, people are too busy half the time to even notice that kind of stuff anyway.

I’ve seen some VERY attractive girls who have braces so I don’t think i’ts the end of the world (and if you’re a guy well honestly i’m sure there are attractive guys with braces)

liek honestly if a person is gonna avoid being friends with you jsut because you ahve braces then they prboably were not worth beibng friends with to begin with you know what I mean?

sory if that seems a little poorly written i’m faded as hel rigth now

Yeah, it can have a pretty bad effect on your social life. People will be tempted to pry them out, form a sort of cage out of them, and lock you in it so you won’t be able to hang out with anyone.

…Nahh, you should be fine. If people ever treat you differently because you have braces, they aren’t worth your time. & when I had braces, I ate freaking anything. Chewed gum all the time. Nbd as long as you don’t chew like a horse.

You have more to fear from lightning then you do your fellow students…

A few of my friends have braces. I really don’t care, and most others don’t either.

Getting braces is one of the best things you can ever do. Even if you have to wear them during your college years. I work with a woman in her mid-40s who got braces a couple years ago. No one at work gave it a second thought. What beautiful teeth she had when she got her braces off.

I’m actually in the Orthodontist’s office right now. I find out if I get them off today although I’m pretty sure I won’t cause these stupid rubberbands aren’t correcting my teeth alignment; however my teeth are straight it’s just the overbite or whatever. Ugh, college is in 3 weeks :(.

I had braces in college. It was a pain going home for the appointments, but other than that it didn’t affect me much. No one mentioned them, and I still got hit on. I didn’t avoid eating anything, but I kept a travel toothbrush in my bag. If I felt like anything had gotten stuck after a meal, I’d make a quick bathroom stop and dry brush it off (no toothpaste/water).

I’m getting braces in December of my sophmore year…again… Not because my teeth aren’t straight, but my bite opened again, causing jaw problems and I have to align it back. Pain in the ass. But don’t worry. I’ve been asking others if having braces will be a hindrance on making friends/getting hit on/dating, and just like everyone else says, if they won’t talk to you or like you just because of some metal in the mouth, they aren’t worth it. Try to get the clear brackets if you can! My friend has that and they aren’t as noticeable as metal ones.

I have braces. Heed my warning, with braces you will have no social life in college. Everyone will disregard you and think of you as less than a person for trying to correct your teeth. Have fun being miserable.

Just kidding. I don’t think braces made any difference in my college life to be honest. Most foods I can’t have I don’t really care for anyway. But my orthodontist said to come back in three weeks instead of six, and I am no longer wearing rubber bands. Crosses fingers that I get them off before school starts again.

Alot of people have braces

If people judge you for having braces, then they’re not worth befriending anyway.

I would actually be happy to have them in college instead of high school. High schoolers are a lot more snide/judgmental than college students. No one will care:)

I had braces the first half of freshman year in college. The braces sucked but nobody cared that I had 'em.
