I was wondering if anyone here knows about the process of breaking an ED contract of Lehigh.

I know this is a very odd question, but I have recently been considering contacting admissions.

(Since I applied ED to lehigh, there have been changes in my families financials that would make it significantly harder to attend lehigh and pay full freight. I know I signed the ED agreement when I applied, but it would be a huge burden to attend LU in the fall.)

I can’t speak to the specific process at Lehigh, but my child pulled out of an ED agreement at another school after the FA package was not enough to make enrollment possible…and it wasn’t a problem. They enouraged us to appeal, which we did. They increased the package by a couple of thousand dollars…which unfortunately was still not enough. We sent a letter to the FA office and that was that. With deadlines for deposits coming soon, it seems pretty late in the game for this, no?

Thanks for sharing. It is VERY late and I completely time is of the essence. How long did the whole appeal process take for you?

They got back to us in about a week. But they asked us to send a letter snail mail - not sure why - so that ate up some time. I would call the FA office tomorrow and ask them exactly what they would need to reassess your package. But as you know, the problem becomes what to do about the May 1 deadline at other schools.

Did you apply to other colleges? You were supposed to withdraw all other applications when you were accepted Ed. Do you have other options? I would think that they would be understanding but could possibly change the package they offered. They are just now finalizing packages so it could be a possibility.

Good luck

It looks like you left all your apps in at other schools judging by your other posts. I do hope this does not backfire. Colleges tend to frown upon this practice.

I withdrew from all the schools I hadn’t heard back from and changed my status to not coming to all the schools I got into, but there’s one school that keeps sending me emails about joining the class of 2017… I don’t know what to do

Retro - I went to a Lehigh Life day on 4/19. Specifically talked to FA office about my son’s package. They told me I could appeal, and that their next and last scheduled appeals meeting was the following Thu, which would have been 4/25.

We did not appeal because there was no significant change. However, in your situation, because you have had a sig change, I think they will work with you, even though it is past what they told me was the last appeals deadline. Heck a family’s financial situation can change anytime. I love Lehigh for what they have to offer in terms of education and individualized attention, but am a little sour on their FA and cost. We got a paltry amount of need based aid, and got priced out. However, your situation sounds quite a bit different. I think they’ll work with you. Good luck!

How could you have been accepted to Northeastern nursing program during RD if you were accepted to Lehigh ED? I believe you are in violation of your ED contract. This has nothing to do with FA.

You don’t know what to do? Did you read your Ed contract? Did you accept your spot at lehigh and pay a deposit? Is this a case of another school giving a better package? You should have withdrawn your apps and there would not be any question. Applying Ed removes the ability to compare packages. You can’t have it both ways. If northeastern were to find out that you did this, they could rescind their offer. You need to be very careful how you go about doing this.

^^Why all the assumptions?

No assumptions. OP found out he/she was accepted to NE on Mar 26 and was accepted to Lehigh in Dec.
