Breaking the Rules - Scheduling

I'm an engineer, and i dont have chem 2090 pre-enrolled for first semester. I also do not have any physics or math advanced credit. thus, im taking math 1910 first semester. Under phys 1112, it says math 1910 is a prerequisite. Will they check/prevent me from taking both at the same time?

i asked the same question, but for 1920 and 2213, and someone told me that they dont check, so i dont think they would for you either

question: do they check pre-reqs in general?

nope. not enforced.

If you are not enrolled in CHEM 2090 and cannot enroll in a Physics, you may wish to enroll in both: Intro to Engineering (ENGRI) & Intro to Computing (CS 1110/1112/2110)

From Course Selection Worksheet.

It also says you can try to enroll in Chem anyway.

They never check that prereqs are fulfilled

Yea i know, i just dont think it’d be as relaxing as i’d like, having 2 sciences in a semester.

lol as I told someone else, having 2 sciences in a semester as an Engineer is a light schedule.

This is my fall semester:
Differential Equations
Mechanics of Solids
Mechanical Properties of Materials
Intro to Circuits for Electrical and Computer Engineers
Physics: Electricity & Magnetism.

All of those also have labs except for Math.

Is it possible to not get into phys 1112 or chem 2090 this fall?
the advising page at the engineering website says each freshman should take one first semester, but i’m getting nervous because i’m not pre-enrolled for chem and there isn’t really all that much space in the physics sections.

so i emailed a professor asking if i could, and he said it was a “strict PRE-requisite”. hopefully he doesn’t check and see that i’m breaking the rules anyway.

idk if this is just for my major (AEM), but my professors ALWAYS check prereqs.

i’ve had professors email me to make sure that i had taken the prereqs.

did they ever do anything if you didn’t listen?

Well this isn’t for Cornell, but I’m taking a summer course back home that has intense pre-requisite checking. Since I’m from another school I told him I’ve covered stuff similar to what the prereqs had and have good background experience, even though I haven’t really. So maybe do something similar, say you’ve taken similar stuff or have a good background?

Also, for 2213 and 1920, I know someone who took them both at the same time. Admittedly, he’s pretty bright, but he ended up with an A in 1920 and A- in 2213, so it’s definitely doable.

His prof told him to drop 2213 since he said it was needed, but his TA said it wasn’t, and he took the course and said it wasn’t necessary. They never did anything about him not having the pre-req. There’s only a few things that are important to know. Read up on Stokes Theorem and Divergence Theorem, not to understand how they work, but just what they are. That’s basically what’s going on in Ampere’s Law and Gauss’s law.

ok, i guess if someone tries to force me out, i’ll just tell them that

i was un-enrolled in a class once - it was business law with prof. grossman. technically you have to be a junior/senior to take it, but my advisor told me to sign up for it anyway since i had enough credits to be a junior (next year). oh well, i found other classes to fill up that time slot.
