Who’s applying :)? Any tips?
@freezycool - Here you are on another board that I check out. My middle son is a Miami freshman. He turned down ASU/Barrett. He really likes it so far. We would have loved for him to stay in Arizona but he really wanted to go out of state.
@Beaudreau no way! Your son and I are one & the same. My parents would prefer it if I went to UA or ASU, and it’d help me out if I knew they were sleeping easy at night- of course, getting into honors will be a toughie! Did he apply to Bridges by any chance :)?
I don’t know what Bridges is, so I guess not.
Miami Honors is very small and quite selective. But it’s not as big a deal at Miami because everyone is part of a living learning community. Also, Miami is about a quarter the size of ASU and really focuses on undergraduate education. Oxford is tiny, but a very nice town.
There is a freshman women who graduated from Xavier High School. My son’s roommates are from Northern California and suburban DC.
I’m from NorCal- nice to hear that there’s some representation! I’m used to a mostly quiet suburban life with huge cities within a close drive. I’m visiting the University of Minnesota (there goes my summer earnings) next month, and am worried I won’t be able to handle the cold- time will tell!
I presumed (incorrectly?) that Bridges use of “cultural diversity” was code for something other than purely cultural diversity. I do not know this, however, so consider this more of a question than an assertion.
@50N40W you’re correct- it seems they’ve accepted more than a few white, American, straight, gender conforming, etc. kids. I’m sure they brought something to the table. Personally I’m applying as a clear “other”.
I just heard back (on Friday, but still)- accepted!
