Lol, “super reach” - that’s what I called MIT/Harvard before I decided to not bother applying, haha. USC is my reach - well, was, as I recently got in with a scholarship, and DEFINITELY going.

BrookeDavis, I think you have good stats and a decent shot at USC. My SAT score is lower than yours and I got in with a scholarship, while my GPA is slightly higher than yours (3.92). You have good IB grades, and I think your internship at an advertising company will stand out to the USC admission team considering you’re applying as a business major. Assuming the rest of your “many more” ECs are good, and you do in fact have strong essay and recs, I really believe you have a good shot at getting into USC.

Hi, everyone,
USC sent me a letter on Jan 29 saying this year they are expect to offer admission to about 8400 freshmen and so far they had notified roughly 15 percent of those students. So there should be some one who is already admitted by USC. And the letter also said that I wouldn’t hear much more news until late-March/early-April. Let’s just wait.

I don’t know anything about an Art night?? Tell me more.

And yes, you are right, as art majors we go through a completely different process for acceptance. We had to do a portfolio, another essay, a supplemental application and all that stuff.

It sure would be amazing to get admitted though.

My daughter got a ‘save the date’ letter from Roski dated 2/10 to block out this Tuesday night. Later she got RSVP email that described an activity based art carnival and she signed up.

I’m not reading anything into this invite and my daughter is just looking forward to a night of getting her hands dirty and getting a chance to meet other artists.

We’re somewhat local and that may have had something to do with the invite.(?)

Best,
Wheaty

PS: Yes, it would be amazing to be admitted. I wish you luck and thankfully we’ll all know within a few weeks!

For those who are interested:
The number posted of possible admits to SC of 8400 will be 324 fewer than last year.
However, it will be slightly more than the number admitted to the class of 2008-2009. That class had an admit rate of 21.9%.

If the numbers of applicants I have seen are correct as well as the number of possible admitted students the bad news is well over 27,000+ will be sent letters of regret.

I live in central california…Im still confused after reading all 5 pages of this thread…

Im assuming I will get rejected, so does that mean that I will hear back soon? Or do they send rejection letters as late as possible?
(i.e. acceptances as soon as possible, but rejections the opposite?)

^rriparetti, don’t be so negative! but rejection letters come out the first week of april. if you are rejected, you won’t hear from USC until then.

and I don’t think anyone knows what the different statuses mean.

Haha well, I know about 5 people who went to my school that go to USC. I hope that helps me? :X
I just have a feeling, I’m sub-par for pretty much everything USC has to offer.
I’m cushioning the fall, ya know?

I didn’t get any of that stuff from Roski. I haven’t heard anything from them at all. The only contact I have had is when the Slideroom deadline date was off and you could not submit your portfolio. But, like I have said before, the chances of me being accepted at USC are remote, remote, remote, impossible. I was warned by everyone not to even apply and was told I was wasting my time (even by my HS counselor). But I am the type that sees possibilities in the impossible, so I thought I would try.

I think your daughter has a much higher chance than me and I wish her the best of luck. I live a couple hours away and to drive there on a Tuesday night would be tough for me anyway. I hope you all have fun though. Post back and tell me what it was like!
