Kalel4,

Yes my D got the same reminder a few days ago. Still waiting for the big letter!

Yes my D got the same reminder a few days ago. Still waiting for the big letter!

kalel and wheaty- those small envelopes are heart stoppers this time of year, aren’t they?

S2 received an acceptance letter from another university in a regular sized envelope. On the outside, however, it said “The Big Envelope.” Pretty funny.

Well, small envelopes aren’t always bad – three of my acceptances this year so far were in small envelopes!

I’ve heard that likely letters come in small envelopes.

3/9/09 was the second monday in march not the first friday. so the guy spreading that rumor is wrong. and in that thread the admission wave seems to start on 3/9. so if anything, people’s admission letters are going to be postmarked 3/8/10

Merryecho,

YES, those small letters are soooo cruel!!! We’re making the process as entertaining as possible but it’s still a bit stressful at the moment. My D applied to 14 schools so we’re getting small and large letters every day!

My daughter is applying to Roski as a Fine Arts major. We both really like their program and it’s definitely a small school within a large school. It would be a good fit with great professors.

Jeez, after April 1st the mailbox will go back to being just bills. :(

14?!! that’s ALOT

i applied to only 7 schools…

^ some guy in my school applied to 41… I dont know what he was thinking.

^LOL, 41…it’s obvious that he put absolutely no effort/research in to narrowing down schools. i think i started out with about 40, & that was basically just a collection of school’s names i got off of CC & went to research about…narrowed it down to 12 :]

I applied to 4, got accepted at one so far and still haven’t heard from the other three. I’m also trying for Roski.

20 lol. its crazy but whatever. no rejections so far, 2 acceptances and one deferral

On the letter that they sent out at the end of January saying you weren’t chosen for the main scholarships it says you probably wont hear back from us until late March / early April. Is that what it said for everyone?

Hey guys, I’m an international student and I have applied by December 1st for consideration for admission. My status is still “your application has been forwarded for committee review”.
Should I be disappointed? Does this mean that I don’t get any scholarship, and that I am not even accepted?

Brooke, do you know how long it usually takes for you to get your mail? You’re an international so I’m gonna bet you get your letters late. If you did not get a scholarship, you should’ve gotten a letter saying you weren’t awarded a scholarship. If you have yet to hear back from USC, then there’s a chance you may be in the same scenario I was in. I’m an international student like yourself so I get stuff very late. Up to Feb 28th I had heard nothing from USC regarding whether or not I had gotten a scholarship (unlike the other Americans here who had heard weeks before), so I was wondering what was up. Come the last day of Feb, I get my USC acceptance packet in the mail that was sent January 27th…it took a whole month to reach me. But I never had the "Forwarded’ status. It said I was still under review.

So, there’s a chance that you may have gotten in and any day now you’ll be getting your USC acceptance packet, or instead of your acceptance packet you’ll be getting that letter that says you weren’t awarded a scholarship. Worst case scenario you have already gotten in and your USC acceptance packet is lost in the mail, never to be found again! Being an international kinda sucks sometimes, doesn’t it? I’m from Sudan, by the way, so I’m not surprised it takes ages for stuff to get here.

Thanks, MagicalMalik for your answer! I’m from Greece, and some other letters from other universities have already arrived. So I don’t think that it is late, and that’s why it didn’t come.

I was kind of sure that I would get in, and I was really hoping for a scholarship. Now I don’t even think I got in. What’s your opinion?

jackdaniels,… did you go on a cruise this thanksgiving to cozumel and progresso? I know this has nothing to do with USC, but i remember meeting a guy with that name that lives in Texas, and is a senior, so i figured what the heck, lol.

I know it is early, but did anyone in LA get their USC letters already?

I live here and I am expecting around 12:00 - 5:00 pm

That is if it is today though

Tornados,

Are you going to the Art night at USC on Tuesday night?

Laure327,

14 is a lot but my D had some sound logic behind 12 of them and 2 were just for fun.

1.) We felt this would be a weird acceptance year due to the poor economy.
2.) Art majors follow a slightly different path to gain entrance to colleges. You have to qualify both with the Admissions office and also portfolio acceptance by the Art department.
3.) My daughter and I were in agreement that she have 2-3 true safety picks, 2-3 reach schools, 1 ‘super reach’, and the rest as likely.

So it wasn’t a shotgun approach, she put a lot of thought into it.

She’s gotten 2 good yes’s so far… 12 more to go! :)
