How many of you brought a car with you to USC? Is it really needed?

this campus is tiny its like 250 acres, all your classes (assuming ur non-medical) should be in the square chunk that usc is located in. However public transporation in L.A. is horrible compared to other large cities

Im not taking a car my frosh year, but will see how everything works out an dwould consider it my soph year. Plus how close to home are you?

do u bring a car when u are far from home or close to home,

I live about 30 minutes from USC.

My parents arent letting me bring my car. I live 5/6 hrs away in Arizona, but my parents don't really trust me driving in LA traffic at first, not to mention car insurance. So first yar I def wouln't have a car, but then sophomore year I probably will.

I don't think you need a car if you are 30 minutes from USC. The only thing is will your parents come and pick you up etc. when you need it. Having a car costs a lot too for only 30 minutes.

I think Houston is worse than LA, possibly, or was until a year or two ago.

i gotta get to USC from Utah, but then i don't know if i want to bring a car and drive home or just catch a plane

IF your 30 min away, i think a car is good to have. You can go home and be back within a few hours. A car is good if your no more than 3 hours away, after that flying is easier.

I live about 45 minutes away but if I go I think I'll bring a car because I heard it's a lot more fun with a car. You are able to explore all of LA. Because USC doesn't have the "Westwood" type surronding area I think a car is better, am I right? But if you bring a car do you find yourself suddenly everyone's best friend and everyone asking you for a ride?

I live in San Diego and my brother has had his car at SC with him every year. I think it's a good thing to have with you if you want to go home and you're just a few hours away. Also if you want to go around LA, having a car is good also since money for cabs can add up and you don't want to always rely on other people.

LADodgers - Yes...I will have mine my Soph year.
