British student transferring to Columbia?

Hey everyone, new to CC

I'm currently a first year Physics student studying at UCL and want to transfer to Columbia. I have already taken A-levels and GCSEs. Was wondering:

-Is it better to just apply for first year undergraduate instead of transferring as the competition for transfers will be a lot more fierce (i don't mind restarting a year and am financially prepared to do so)?

-Don't have any clue what SATs/TOEFLs i will have to take, if i did Maths, Physics and Chemistry A-levels, can somebody list the SATs i will have to take?

If you are a native English speaker, you do not have to take TOEFL. SAT-wise, you should take the SAT IIs that correspond to the A-levels that you mentioned, and the SAT Reasoning Test or ACT with Writing. For more specifics, see here: [International Admissions | Columbia University Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/admissions/international/admissions.php)

If you’ve done a year at UCL, you’re going to have to do transfer admissions, not first-year admissions.
