British Uni?

Anybody gone to Oxford for their degree (ie not as a 'study abroad' student)? How about any others (Cambridge, York, Exeter, Bristol, etc)? Or Scottish ones?
Just curious
I've heard they emphasize academics and academic drive much more than extracurriculars in admissions. Is that true?
I'm thinking of applying to Oxford as I believe I'd get along quite well in Britain (academically as well as sense of humor, mannerisms, personality, etc)?

Yes (I’ve attended 3 of the universities you mention in fact).

Also read the study abroad forum. Several people there are at St Andrews or Edinburgh.

University is considered an academic occupation in the UK and ECs are irrelevant in admissions unless they are related to the course you are applying to (eg applying for English, have acted in an Shakespeare play).

Understand that there is no financial aid for foreign undergraduates in the UK before you start down this path.

I’m leaning more towards the English ones because, with the exception of medicine and certain other ‘majors’, the degrees take only three years. So, even though they’re priced similarly per annum, I’d be saving 25% of the cost of a full-priced American university of similar caliber.
Did you like or dislike the lack of ‘electives’ and the absence of the typical American ‘college experience’? Have you studied in the US long enough to compare the ethos?

I left the US after elementary school so I can’t really answer your questions.

Oh, okay, well thanks for trying. Which 3 did you attend and why them over the others?
