This is probably a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway.

I have attended British international schools all my life which means that I've adopted the British spelling style as opposed to the American (favourite vs favorite, etc.)... does it matter if I continue spelling this way for my applications or do I need to change because I am applying to American colleges after all?

Just to be safe :P

Don’t worry about this at all. British spelling is OK.

I think you can do whichever (it’s not like it’s a foreign language!). Having a combination will probably come off as sloppy, though, so whichever you choose, make sure you’re consistent.

No. As above poster said, just be consistent in your spelling and grammar.

I had this situation when I studied in the UK and I was told to just be consistent with whatever I use. Otherwise you lose a lot of brownie points/look unprofessional.

okay thank you, saves me a lot of effort!
