If you had to choose between American University, Penn State University Park, or Temple University, for broadcast journalism, what would you choose?
psu all the way. Go for honors also
All very different schools so I would visit if you could. Both American and Temple are city schools while Penn State has that community feel and the University and town function as one experience. Penn State just received an amazing endowment in the College of Communication. American has so much exposure to DC and all the news events that happen there. I would probably rule out Temple and visit the other 2 and see how you connect with the campus
Visiting is key. Once you walk onto a campus, you could have a completely different idea about a school than you did before. Also consider finances (financial aid + merit aid) if that’s a big factor.
I’d decide by the proximity of decent TV stations where undergraduates can do internships. In broadcast journalism, it’s all about your hands-on experience and “demo reel” (and I don’t just mean for on-air talent.)
