Does anyone know how many students typically interview for the Brooks scholarship and how many students receive the scholarship?

I got my letter about the interview today, but I checked the school’s website and didn’t see anything about the number of finalists.

As an aside, something came up and I need to change my interview date from February 20 to February 6. How accommodating do you think they’ll be?

From what I heard, this scholarship is very competitive.

My D went through the process last year. They told us they had a record number of Brooks Scholarship applicants then - over 300 - and they interviewed about 200. I think it was the first year they had to pare down the interview list. They did not tell us until the end how many Brooks Scholars they took. I believe it was 35.

My D was not one of the 35, but they did offer a diversity scholarship, which makes a huge difference for us because we are out-of state.

And for @clak - I think they will be flexible about you changing your interview date, especially this far out. The office was extremely nice and accomodating (and responsive) when we went through the process. Some people came even from overseas for the interview and they know it can be a financial hardship on a family to make another trip to Columbia.
