Brown 2014 - ED applicants

I’m deciding between Brown ED and Yale EA. Decisions, decisions…

I was in that situation a few weeks ago. But after I visited the campuses, it became very clear that I liked Yale for mostly superficial reasons. Also, Yalies seemed a little too intense, if you get what I mean? The people at Brown were uber-active, no doubt, but were also very chill and seemed to be loving life.

Hey, random survey. How many guys do we have here, and how many girls?

tetrisfan: Girl!

chica chica!!!

girls: 2

guys: 0

I’m a girl.

Girls: 3
Guys: 0

Also, I agree that Yale’s atmosphere seems too competitive- I haven’t visited, but that’s what I’ve heard. Brown seems more relaxed, but with similar academic quality nonetheless.

Do people who aren’t applying to Brown ED count?

If so, make that a ratio of 4 to 0 :).

Oh, that’s a good point. If only EDers count, it’s 2 to 0 still, because I’m not applying ED either.

Yale wasn’t competitive in the cutthroat sense; it was more like the students were constantly trying to one-up what they’d accomplished the previous semester, either in terms of grades or extracurriculars.

I’ll be applying Early Decision, unless I fall in love with Swat and/or Amherst between now and October.

I’ll be applying for Swat’s Discovery Weekend and Amherst’s Open House Weekend. Both in September.

But I’d rather be at Brown so I’ll compare and contrast.

Oh, and 4-1 right (I’m a guy)

This school’s made a late surge onto my list. I wasn’t originally planning to apply anywhere much besides Penn State and Texas. Doubtful I’ll get in, but I might as well toss my hat in the ring. The ratio is now 4-2  . I’m liking that 53 girls - 47 guys ratio too.

im a girl! and ABSOLUTELY applying brown ED so add me into the ratio :)

^Good luck :)! (to everyone who’s applying)

5-2. Girl power? :p

NO FAIR!!! I thought there is only one guy applying ED? Who’s the other one? Yay us two!!!

And yes, I love Brown. Too much sometimes. I imagine if Brown was a real place, it’d be a bear and I’d hug it. Brown Bear :)

I’ve woken up dreaming about getting accepted from Brown and finding out tears were rolling down my eyes in the morning lol.

I’ve had the opposite dream, where my parents told me that I could only apply to a state school (and not one I’m particularly interested in, though my parents want me to apply) and woke up near-crying.

^^^

Random fact: my mum won a giant teddy bear in a raffle once. It was the jackpot too, lol :)

Haha python :D

It was the weirdest dream, especially because my parents presented it as some amazing surprise. :stuck_out_tongue:
Also, the teddy bear thing is funny. I always wonder what people do with those when they win them at theme parks and the like…

i have one lol… i won it at a church fair last september…its currently sitting in my basement collecting dust

guys are seriously slacking

Brown’s minorly skewed female-male ratio is due to a majorly skewed female-male applicant ratio?
